Help!! The older I get!

Now don't get me wrong :D. Big knives certainly have there place and I certainly use them.
A few weekends ago I celebrated "cut the ivy" weekend and a small slipjoint is not the tool for that job. ;).

A Peanut was my companion for a long time, and it never let me down. It does have it's limitations due to it's size, but other then the ninja assasins, terrorist threats, alien predators and nuclear wars we all have to deal with on a daily basis:rolleyes:, those limitations are pretty much negligeable. I carry a SAK most of the time now, a Cadet or Super Tinker, and they do just fine for e as well. A knife is meant to cut. That's it. In order to cut, it needs to be sharp, not big. Granted, the right tool for the Job applies here, and sometimes a large kn ife is BETTER for a given task, but in a cutting contest, I will put up a Peanut with ANY size knife, and it will hang well. Small thin blades? Can't beat 'em.

As you get older certain "things" seem to not be as big as they were when you were young :o. There's no reason why the knife can't get smaller too. Wield your tiny tool with pride sir! :D

Peanut is a fine tool and one to be proud of at any age.

But, I find ONE is not enough...CASE Crandall in the right trouser pocket, CASE Bonestag in the left and in the jacket CASE Antique Bone or even a Rough Rider green bone Peanut, that little invader is worryingly good too....

Other useful small knives include Half Whittler and Pen Knife. Don't hear people talking up the Baby Butterbean though, wonder why?

I think the butter bean/canoe is a design that is too blunt to translate well to downsizing. Maybe an activistic thing in our DNA, but most people seem to like a fine point on a knife. Mini-toothpicks, mini-trappers, mini-stockmen, peanuts and pen knives all have a fine point.

of course, YMMV.:D
