Welcome to the forums, monkeyxx. Good thread. You provided enough specifics, and a realistic choice, making it easy to provide you with cogent answers.
I think you made the right decision, size-wise. Everything, including size, is relative. Though I recently added the Calypso Jr Ltwt to my right pocket rotation, every other knife I've carried there has been noticeably larger than the Sebenza, excepting my Wegner. I carried a CRKT M16-14 for 18 mos, give or take a couple. Others are my Apache, M16, large CRKT KFF, Magna, Impulse, and S-2. My first and greatest complaint about the large Sebenza I bought, was that the handle is too short to be really comfortable for me. For a long time I figured that knives which had the closest measurements between the handle and the blade lengths were always the most desirable. Several of my knives have quite lengthy handles, which I really appreciate. It doesn't bother me a bit that there is a significant difference between blade and handle length.
For one thing, knives with longer handles provide the option of using the knife as a concussive tool, where it protrudes at the end of the hand. (I know there's a better word than concussive, but it ain't rising to the surface.) It also then, of course, acts like a roll of quarters, in terms of adding something to the solidity of your fist.
I've been slow coming round to the point of appreciating my Sebenza, but am getting there. Hope you enjoy your Pheasant Tail!
