i just got a sotech go bag and i have never realy had a bob, but i am trying to put one together to keep in the car. this is what i have in it so far.
surefire g2 with 6 123a
spyderco salt h1
bic lighter, and h20 matches
compass
spare blackberry battery
6 hour candle
and soon to be benchmade fix blade.
and i know im forgetting something.
any help filling it up??????
Thanks alot

I'd add some water bottles, some means of water purification, blanket, and a small metal pot. Maybe also some nonperishable food like MREs. Some rain gear and cold weather gear would be a good idea too, along with decent footwear.

emergency blanket, light hatchet, glow sticks and some snacks. there are probably alot more but I cant think of them right now.

i keep bottled h20 in the car so if need be i could stick a few in there.
as for the pot i saw that someone uses a small metal dog dish i think i wll do the same.

i would add food, water, stove, basic cooking gear.

sanitization products (toothbrush, soap, etc)

spare clothes/outer layer. blankets maybe.

i can't really tell how big the bag is from the picture, but it looks good sized. even so, it may be a bit small for alot of stuff.

just don't forget that you have a car, and given you don't have to put too much stuff in it regularly or it is not too small, you have plenty of room to stash a goodsized pile of gear. i would maybe organize a couple of kits...maybe a milk crate with nonessestial type stuff like a stove and extra water, a bag with the more essentials for if you have to walk out somewhere.

Throw some para cord in there, 50 feet won't take up much room. Make sure it's the real thing:)

i have a sheath of my fixed blade wraped with about 3 feet and i have about i think 100 feet in my car as it is.

change of clothes, I use sweats in mine, they make good thermal underwear. I use to keep MRE's but they degrade quicker in heat, so I replaced them with a six-pack of Ramen instead. Don't forget a poncho/raingear and some kind of shelter/tarp. Mine is just to get me home from work (40+ miles) or whereever I may be. It depends on what you need to bug out to or from, and how long, fires? road damage from quakes? terror attacks?

A big hammer to smash your blackberry and free yourself from the shackles of society.:D

but see im one of the few who turns it off at 10 at night and turns it back on at 9 am lol.:D:D i hate to say it but its the best phone i have ever had it was a gift so that makes it even better lol:D

you are better off getting a charger for your blackberry - there are crank and solar available. The spare battery will lose its charge over time. I would replace the Benchmade with something a bit less expensive such as a Mora or Pilots Survival Knife. Cliff bars for food. Some Adventure Medical Heat Sheats and a few Disaster Blankets. Fleece pullovers make good layering clothes. Some orange ponchos and a few trashbags. Vic Farmer or Pioneer.

why do you say to replace the Benchmade Nimravus with something a bit less expesive??
just wondering. i am gonna go to walmart today and get some protein bars, ponchos, and a few survival blankets. thanks alot

My BOB in my truck is a nylon tool bag. One of the QLC ones you can pick up at Home Despot. It's stuffed full of survival junk. I'll list a couple items I keep in the bag.

Three road flares, good for signaling or emergency fire starting.
A GSI double boiler filled with energy bars and peanut butter packets.
Pocket chainsaw.
SOG field pup.
A bunch of large trash bags and some aluminum foil.
Plenty of firestarting tools.
Signal mirror.
Pair of wool socks and fleece gloves.

Stashed in other areas of my truck I have a first aid kit, CPR mask, orange mesh safety vest, MRE food and several water bottles, tarp, PFD, lexan avalanche shovel, several flashlights, etc. etc.

I figure if I'm ever stranded in my truck I'll be all right for quite a while.

Right now it is getting the gearbox fixed but I own a VW California Syncro... and I was planning to fix a "go bag" (I guess that is the term used on BF to talk about some esentian supplies packed together to be able to grab it as it is in the even of an emergency). The problem is that I love some of my gear pieces too much to let them sit in the trunk and take the risk of having them stolen! I wish I could have a spare of each and every pice of my favourite gear... but I don't.

I guess that replacing the Benchmade FB with a Mora is a great idea.

why should i replace my benchmade with a cheaper knife??
I probably wouldn't, but .. the Mora is lighter and smaller. If it's big enough to do the job, you save weight and space.

In this case though it's a questionable trade-off, since the Nimravus is such a good knife.

am/fm radio, duct tape. BM is fine. CS Finn Bear would work fine too. you could get the radio w/ the cost difference.

roll of quarters and small bills.

Less Expensive and tougher alternative I think. A Mora 760 or 1095 Carbon Steel knife would be good. The nimravus is an excellent knife, but it is more of a combat knife than a multi-purpose knife. Also most of this gear has to be at least semi-throw away in my book. I have 2 nimravus but its not the knife I would leave in my car for emergencies. Something less prone to shattering when impacted would be better. That is why I recommend the Pilots Survival knife or a Mora. You could even get both. And if someone walks off with your bag or car, you are not out a $100 knife.
