Help with a large, tough blade please?

Becker BK2/BK7/BK9
Anything from the Busse group
some by TOPS

I’m pretty convinced I ‘need’ 3V now, but I’ve looked at the large Beckers and a few big TOPS knives over the past few days. They’re definitely a nice, and cheaper, alternative. Thanks for the help.

Not that you need more suggestions, but what about a Esee junglas? Its coated 1095 which is a great tough steel. It is under $200 and if you somehow manage to break it esee will give you another one, no questions asked. Oal is around 16.

Another good option if my 3V hunt turns out to be too pricey, thanks mate. I’ve never tried any ESEE knives either.

I have two of these DocJD, thinking about picking up another for my son at the current price and the steel being used. You may want to check out a Condor Plan A also. It's a pretty big and beefy bowie made from 1075- 9" blade, 5mm thick with flat grind. I've got one but really haven't tested it. The butt seemed a little small so I wrapped it with paracord for now, but it seems like it would make a nice outdoor type knife and be able to take a beating.

Just got one of those myself. Excellent beater. Nothing to go wrong, easy to sharpen, 52100 takes, and holds, a good edge, and the handle is just the right size for me. It is a little heavy, but given its intended use, that's not a bad thing. Probably going to have a sheath made for it, as I am not a fan of plastic. The sheath that comes with it is functional, tho. I consider it money well spent.

I second CPK. Favourite brand bar none.

Otherwise I think an "apocalypse" by TRC could be up your ally.
It is elmax, but it is about .24 thick

If you are looking for a tough knife, its hard to go wrong with a Becker. The Becker BK2 Campanion is 10.5 inches overall, with a 5.25 inch blade. Its great for heavy chores like batoning wood or chopping branches. If you want something larger, Becker does make several larger knives of a similar design. You can find the BK2 for $90 or less with a bit of searching.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully the search is over, I just managed to buy a second hand Fehrman Final Judgement with custom scales. It’s 3V and 15” long, it looks a great bit of kit.

Yeah, I’ve got an Apocalypse. I bought the Virus edition with the apocalypse coating on as well, it’s my favourite knife. I wanted something bigger.

Just get yourself a Skrama, just about perfect for the UK.
A Silky F180 saw and maybe a GB Small Forest Axe has UK bushcraft covered.

Terava 120 would do the sheath fixed blade thing. SAK Huntsman your pocket knife. Heck, if you haven't owned an Opinel then you are missing out.

You could buy the lot for the price of some of the high ticket price stuff out there. I've had some pretty expensive stuff over the years, and now its the Skrama that I take.
