Just bought two Al Mar folders & need help with ID's. Was checking out one of the local pawn shops yesterday (one I do a lot of business with). Last month they brought out some knives to show me that were pawned... holding period was not up yet but they know I like knives so they told me they would be on the floor 5/13. First chance I had to visit the shop since then, so I asked about the knives. They were still in the back. Junior brought them out... did a quick check on the internet and came up prices of $50 & $65. They are trying to lessen inventory so all knives were 25% off. This dropped it down to $86 & change + tax. I buy lots of stuff there... ALOT... so out the door with both for $80 total.
Never owned an Al Mar. Trying to find info on them is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I have had no luck finding ANY info about the longer knife. Believe the shorter knife is a SERE medium size. Any info on models & approx. age will be a great help. Both look unsharpened but with wear from storage. Longer knife blade is 4 1/2" marked ATS34 SEKI-JAPAN on ricasso. Blade on smaller one is approx. 3 1/4" with SEKI-JAPAN. Both blades marked "AL MAR" in black with a red "chop". Thought the knives were cool when I first saw them... so I was happy they were still at the shop. Sorry for the photo quality. If better pics or more info is needed just let me know. Best.
