Help with bolster and blade.

Hey everyone in New to this forum. I'm making a chef's knife for a customer. I had a bunch of 5160 steel so that is what i used for the blade.

The client wants a mirror finish in it. I'm worried it's going to patina. Is there anything I can do about it.

Same question goes for the bolster it is just low carbon steel. What can I do?

Higher finish means less rusting, but there isn't much to be done to keep it from forming a patina, especially in a kitchen knife. A nice patina will actually make it less likely to actually rust. I would just inform the customer of this.
