My father recently passed away and I have since found three knives that are interesting. One is a Buck knife. On the blade it is stamped BUCK. Under that "121" and under that "U.S.A." There are no other dots or symbols. The entire knife is about 10 inches long and the blade about 5 3/4 - 6" long. The handle is black with a metal tip.

The sheath is black leather with BUCK stamped into the leather and BUCK stamped on the snap button. The sheath folds over the top to close and has 121 stamped on the back.

I would like to give this knife to my 8 year old grandson as an heirloom but would like some idea how old it is, its worth, etc, before he goes out slaying deer with it!

Sorry I can't post a picture. The dog ate the cord that connects my camera to my computer. Thank you in advance if anyone can help.

Welcome to Bladeforums.com DSnSC!!! :D Please take a moment or two to visit our benefactors, Buck Knives http://www.buckknives.com/ and One Stop Knife Shop http://www.onestopknifeshop.com/ (Kevin owns this Forum!) ;)

Buck has a very interesting Virtual Plant Tour at http://www.buckknives.com/plant_tour.php , a guide to Tang Stamp Codes at http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_vintage.php , and there is a brief introduction to the Buck Collectors Club at http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_club.php . The Buck Collectors Club commissions special and unique versions of Buck knives for member sales only, so you might want to consider joining to gain access to some of these truly awesome knives!!! :)

OK, enough of the Wal-Mart welcome...I can't help with the 121, but if you have a scanner, put the knife on it and throw a t-shirt/towel/light colored cloth over it and scan it. Then check out this mini-tut on posting pics, -

And we'll see if we can't find someone who can help you! ;)
