I was planning on making some custom g10 handle scales for my manix 2 but i realized that almost all of the screws are countersunk and i don't know how to countersink. i was thinking about drilling the initial hole into the g10 then using a 1/2 inch countersink drill bit widening the hole but I don't know if that will work. Is they're any other special tricks that i should know about this? I haven't really been able to find much information on this topic so any ideas help. Also at my disposal i have a powerdrill and a dremel if that helps.

You have to consider the screws you're using.
You need to know the angle of the bevel on the bottom of the screw head so you can use a countersink that matches that angle. That way the screw will sit flush with the handle.

If they are flatheads you need a countersink most likely 82 degree. For buttonheads and pretty much anything else you will need a counter bore or step drill of the right diameter.

Whenever possible, use a counter-bore. It is the only really sure way to have precision aligned head countersunk holes.
