Can someone direct me to or tell me what type of bits I need to find to obtain the flat counter sink or counter bore found on most knife handle screw holes. I have searched and searched and can not figure it out. I'm working on a set of scales for my ZT 0350 and can't figure out the screw holes...GRRRR. Thanks in advance for any advise.

I'm not familiar with the screws zt uses but I think you're looking for a counterbore and not a countersink.
If I need to make a counterbore in something, and don't have an actual counterbore in the size I need, I measure the diameter and depth of the head of the screw take a drill about .010" or so bigger than the diameter I measured and grind the drill down on a bench grinder so that I end up with a flat bottoming drill. It's not that difficult to make at all. Then drill your pilot hole with a normal drill and follow that with the flat bottom.
Hopefully this is helpful, I don't know what kinda tools you have access to.

Huh... I never thought of that but I'm pretty sure that will work for me. I'm doing this project on a tight budget and don't have a drill press or mill at this point. Working by hand with a drill or dremel for now. Thanks for the info, I will give it a try.

I always use sized counterbores or sometimes step drill bits. You can also search for a type of specialty counterbore bit called the "Subland" which accomplishes the same thing. Gotta use a drill press though...

However, it is possible to drill out the holes using two separate regular bits - but you have to carefully register the piece using pin stock or some other method. A lot more complicated to set up with the potential for errors on your expensive handle materials...
