A young man who I watched grow up is now in his second tour in the USMC. I try to give him a hand when I can. While he has his Ka-Bar he needs something smaller on occasion. I told him surf the web and tell me what you'd like. Well as my bad luck would have it he really likes the Emerson Government Mule. To those in the know these things are as rare as hens teeth. If you've followed me this far perhaps you could offer me some suggestions of a comparable 10" fixed knife with about 5" blade that is made in USA. I'd sure appreciate it. And thanks for listening.

J jbib , have you considered the Benchmade Adamas fixed blade?

You can get aftermarket scales for it, too

J jbib ..mate a quick googly tells me Ontario Knife Co has gone into liquidation😮‍💨..that said there's probably heaps of them still available somewhere...?

Look into ESEE and TOPS knives, both USA companies with nearly indestructible knives carrying excellent warranties and great reputations. Becker is another option.

Ontario RAT 5 or Bushcraft/ Field knife...
5in blade 10 overall
Check ebay...
Also
BPS knives of the Ukraine...

BPS thread here...I got 2 of them ..sent to Australia no probs.excellent value.

Tops M-PAT, or Tops BROS BOB Fieldcraft in 154cm might work. Winkler makes several that are worth a look. They offer a military discount I believe. Becker bk18 or bk16 are less expensive options.

Buck is always a safe bet, but you could also look into ESEE knives, or Kabar/Becker series. I have a few examples of all of them & they are all great go to knives 👍

Another one that is 5.5 inches:

ARCHITECT KNIVES: AK 5.5 available in 3v or 1095.

I can second BPS knives, I quite like mine and hard to do better for the price. The leather sheaths get much much better after wet forming and then sno sealing.
