Hey i have been looking around for information on belt grinders but im a little lost, im trying to find a good quality grinder that will do hollow grinds and flat grinds but (and this is the main point) im looking for a quiet one, and if at all possible under 400 dollars. id be switiching out from a 1 inch by 30 inch grizzly belt sander which is ok but i would not mind the upgrade.

anybody have suggestions?

Norm coote is rock solid and so are his grinders (not in any way affiliated with him)
Ken.

I have both a KMG and a Coote. I first started with a 2x42 Craftsman then upgraded to the Coote as the price was easier to swallow when I first started. I am considering buying another Coote (with a 10" wheel), and combining it with the one that I have, to build a dual wheel grinder, but still trying to work out the fitxure details. I have had great luck with my Coote, and would recomend it for the price. I know many folks like to recomend NWG or GIB for first "real" grinders, but I am happy with the Coote that I have. If you can afford the bigger wheel, I try to go for that because you can then do both hollow and flat grinds with the same machine.

the fact that they only accept checks bothers me, have you had an issue with this?

He also accepts USPS money orders.

That is nothing to be bothered about. It keeps his price lower and eliminates him dealing with credit care fraud and charge backs. Knife maker Mike Snody just got $20,000 of charge backs from a scammer due to credit card.

I'd send an email or PM, but I think you've got them turned off.
I've got a Coote to sell.
