I am looking to get my first ZT for my EDC rotation, I like a smallish blade 3" to 3.25" flipper, assisted or not as long as it opens fairly easy. Weight should be under 5 oz's or preferably less. I would like one with carbon fiber grips, not real picky on the steel as I don't know much about the different steels yet. Budget $250.00 or If I need to go a bit more for the right model I could. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My first ZT was a ZT0350.
It is on the heavy side but I can only recommand it to "get i touch" with ZT.
IMHO the ZT0350 emphasis a lot of the original philosophy of ZT... durable, heavy folding blades... "built as a tank" and "proudly overbuilt in the USA"...

Nowaday they offr a lot of more different designs, some beeing almost gentlemen folderS.
They are great knives, but for me they are not really in line with the "concept" of ZT.

So to start with ZT, I think a ZT0350 or a ZT0566 are good entry level knives.
In the 150$ range with good steels, assited opening, etc...
Notes that they works fine deasisted, so shall you get tired of the assisted opening you may be able to remove the torsion bar easily.

again recently the 0562 and 0801 have been released with KVT ball bearing, premium steels and materials, and a price just above 200$.

You can also look at the 0450Cf if you look for a gentleman folder is great.

I didn't try the emerson by ZT but I have read good comments on them.
However they are too tactical for my usage, but it may fits you also.

+1! My 0350 is one of my favorites and most trusted over my sebenza, Emerson, etc.

Doesn't the 566 come in a c.f. version?
Yes it does, in a few cf versions actually,

566cf
566cfm390
566bwcf

But they're all over 5oz if I remember correctly so that's why I omitted them

The 350 is a beefy guy, but I honestly find myself packing it more than any other ZT knife I own. The blade shape, durability, price point (I don't get too upset when I bang it up on the job site), and overall ergonomics bring be back to it time and time again.

If the 0450 floats your boat, go for it. I was briefly tempted by the ZDP offering; but know I would never carry the knife, so it would be a wasted purchase.
The 0808 and/or the 0770 variants would be my choice at your stated size.

Absolutely the 0450cf. It flips AMAZINGLY and is an overall near perfect knife.

If you get a ZT0450 and don't care for the titanium scales there is a scale maker in the exchange that made carbon fiber scales for the ZT0450.

Ordered the ZT0450 CF with the black blade. Thanks for all the help this just looks like it is best for me I don't need a overly large pocket knife.

The 0450cf is a very nice little knife
Let share some pictures when you get it ;)

The 0562 was in the running but the blade is just a bit big for my liking I also ordered a Kizer 3404 after reading a good review on it. I know it is Chinese made but sounds like a solid knife. Not sure I will keep both of them just depends how well they feel. Anybody have experience with the Kizer? I ordered both off of Amazon I hope the ZT is not a knockoff!!
