Hello, I need some help. I have a family heirloom knife that was made by my uncle JP Holmes for me when I was a little boy. It disappeared for about 30 years and was recently returned to me. I would like to have it cleaned up, sharpened and have new handles put on and possibly a sheath made. It was important to me that someone that knew him would be the person to take this on, however it has become difficult in finding someone to do this. Does anyone know of someone who would be willing to take this on, preferably in the SF Bay Area? I have attempted to contact the BAKCA but have not had much help their either. Thank you in advance for any help!!

Dave

Man that thing looks great to me! If it were mine, I'd polish up the blade a little, throw on a fresh edge, rub that nice wood handle with some tung oil and put it in a nice leather sheath. I'd rock that all day long. It looks like a very nice knife.
If you feel like you just have to change it up, I'm sure there are some custom knifemakers on here who'd be happy to set you up. Just check out the customs for sale section and find someone who's work you like, or someone who says he does repairs.
Good luck, and nice blade!

Thanks AntDog! I have tossed around the idea of leaving it as is and doing just as you said. Maybe Ill take a look in the customs for sale section while I give it some more thought.

No problem at all sir. It's always good to consider your options. Don't rush it since it's an important decision about a knife that has been in your family for a long time.
Best of luck whatever you decide Dave! :)
