Ok Y'all I need some design help.
My youngest son is going into the Army, departure date 10-14-08
if he passes his physical this Monday.
He will go into E.O.D.and is very excited about this!
He asked me if I would make him a knife.
I was hoping to get Great Lakes to water-cut an ARMY logo into the blade
What I have is no clue what kinda knife an EOD guy would use?
I do not think a big bowie/combat knife would be useful.(Though he would love it)
Any of y'all EOD/Bomb squad people , or know any?? Any ideas welcome

I would definetly recommend integrating a c-4 punch... I think contemporary blasting caps are 3/16"-1/4" diam. 3" long should be sufficient. The tricky bit on EOD is most, if not all, equipment is anti static/anti sparking. This includes many bronze tools and specially coated equipment. I would, on second thought, make him a good combat/survival blade w/ EOD markings, and leave bomb disposal tools to the experts. This is a field w/ zero margin for error.

Here is Mission Knives version. the SEALS and Marine Force Recon use em now. It's made from titanium with a non static handle.

If he's EOD the blade needs to be titanium, he needs a knife that is totally non-magnetic. Many mines and UXOs can do bad things when they get near magnetic items.
