I have a sabre that is most likely Prussian. This would probably be around the 1860's to 1890's.
It is a long, 35" blade, both thick, wide, and heavy, with a fuller extending most of it's length.
The blade is marked.... A E Holler Solingen
The scabbard and blade are both marked with what appears to be a unit mark.
1.A.F.M.A.8.6.
The handle is iron. wood core, leather wrapped, no braided wire wrap, and the back of the handle is also covered with solid iron. NO brass anywhere.

What I'd like to know is what the unit marks signify???

I used to be a member here, but had been inactive so long I had re-register.
Thank you.

OK...….finally found a sabre at http://www.kaisersbunker.com/cc/bw.htm
My sabre looks very much like the third model.
There are not enough angles to be sure, and my scabbard has an extra ring,
This is the only similar one I have found with a lot of hours of searching.

The unit marks are the most intriguing to me,
