I went to REI today and managed to get out the door without buying anything-- go figure THAT!

Anyway, they had a new pouch by Nite Ize that was pretty cool for a small PSK. It's one of those gizmos you need to see to appreciate. It can hold a lot of small goodies and then it has this waterproof cover that unfolds from a pocket on the back and slips over the whole works. I've seen a couple small camera pouches that have a cover like that. I liked the cover as much for keeping the stuff in as the weatherproofing it provides.

Here Is the one I carry in a Camera case.

FWIW, I've been working up my own belt-carry survival kit, using a US military surplus ammo pouch. Am still trying to figure out a good use for the "grenade loops" at the sides. I've noticed that the thinner Himalayan Imports khukuri scabbards can kind of fit there--converting the whole thing to a large-but-impressive knife-with-pouch-on-side kind of look. But I'm wondering if anyone else has found a good use for those loops.

Use the pouches to hold grenades...ditch the fishing kit, take out a whole group of deer and never have to worry about two legged predators on the trail. Grenades make good firestarters, too. Fallen tree in the trail? Not for long

Seriously, though, I used to put tangerines or crab apples in them. I suppose muffins or bagels would fit, too.

I thougth I recognized the speedback- I've got a number of those and the X-6s. So you took the straps off? How did you attach the strap? You made some pretty heavy mods. I'm intriqued, if I knew more about the mods, I've got a couple of X-6s that I'm not really using for anything.... :)

I always cut them off. I imagine you could get a smaller pouch, like a dressing pouch, into them, and hold them in place with an ALICE clip around the pocket, but I'm not sure it's worth the bulk.
