Help with stainless Damascus selection? -> Arrived!

Your attitude is to be admired. As well as your choices.

Use them in good health.

Thank you. The really though part starts now - per Heather, the current waiting list is about a year long

When I had them made my current Small Sebenza it was like 8 months, so I guess good things come to those who wait ;)

I will do my test to post pictures in this thread a year from now :D

Congrats on your decision.

As for the waiting list-maybe I can "lift your spirit" here a little. When I`ve ordered my damascus blade last year, I was told that it would take about 9 months. After all though, they had it in after only about 2-3 months! I was a shocked when Heather emailed me, telling me that they had it in already! ;) That being said, it might be in quicker than you expect. Good luck! :)

I had to wait over a year to receive my Small Sebenza (Ivory & Damascus)
It was well worth the wait. What was nice was when I ordered it the price was the lower price before they raised things and it was completed after the price change and I got for the old price.

Nice Sebenza you have there :D

My order is finalized - I went with the ladder stainless damascus.

And for the record, this will be an EDC blade that will see actual daily use. I don't own "anything" that is a shelf queen. My left-handed, year 2001 BG-42 small Sebenza Classic is well worn and still works fantastic :D

Thanks again for the help on the pictures - much appreciated

It has been almost a year since I placed my order with Heather for my custom Damascus Large Sebenza. Hopefully not much longer to wait now :D

I have a Mnandi with a ladder Damascus blade enroute that I plan on using. I will let you guys know how it does.

I just ordered a small Sebbie with ladder Damascus, I'm being told 12 months by Heather. :) I plan for it to be somewhat of a user, not an EDC but definately not a safe queen, more of an occasional carry when I'm dressed nice. So hopefully in another year I can once again add to this thread.

Well, today, almost a year and 1/2 after my order, I got the very pleasant call from Heather: my custom Damascus Large Sebenza with Ironwood inlays is ready!

I will post pictures once I get it :D

congrats. the longer the wait, the bigger the pleasure... at least, that's what my gf says.. :)

Here is a pic of my one and only CRK Damascus. Its a mnandi with cocobolo handles and Devin Thomas Basketweave Stainless Steel Damascus. I have used it heavily and have edc'ed it for awhile and there is not even a blemish. The DT SS Damascus holds a heck of an edge, every bit as good as S30V and BG-42 in my opinion. I highly recommend the Devin Thomas ( what CRK uses ) Damascus.

Cant wait to see the pics................Did you have to pay in advance, put down a partial payment, or pay when its ready ??? I hate to pay for a knife and not get it a year and a half ???

I didn't on my large stainless ladder damascus blade for my stars and stripes model. I am thinking about ordering another sebbie with damascus. I love it for a working and carry knife.

No, they just get all of your customer/contact info, the details of your order, and then comes the hard part - the wait. Once the knife is done, they call to get payment information, and shipping preferences, and that is all. If I understood her correctly they were shipping the knife today (Thu) via USP ground, so I would imagine by Wed/Thu of next week it will be here ;)

Hi guys,

I get the feeling the ONLY way to snag a Damascus CRK is to order direct from them.

I have been looking almost daily on the usual online sites , no luck - always sold out !

Well i've used and carried the Damscus Mnandi and here's my opinion on it. The SS Damscus takes a much keener edge and holds it better, I didn't damage the pattern but when I was cutting cardbboard the coating CRK applies to it did rub off a little but it was easily fixed when I sent it in.

My favroiet Damascus pattern is Bubblewrap, and my Ironwood Mnandi has a nice specimen:

I snagged this from Neil at TNK two or three years ago. My wife also has a Damascus (Ladder pattern) Mnandi with Cream Mammoth Ivory inlays. Here is Neil's photo of it:

It's her "user" knife, and she uses it often. It still looks new, and has a razor-sharp edge.

After a year and 1/2 of wait, it is finally here:

I remember following this thread last year. Congrats on the beautiful Sebenza. Now the question is was it worth the wait and will you carry it?

Good choice on the ladder. I ordered a fixed blade from CRK about 3 months ago, and I was told it will be several more weeks. I think its well worth the wait and its makes getting the knife more exciting, almost like a xmas present.
