Welp, here goes, I mailed a package to a member here and they gave me the wrong zip code by PM. It’s close but not exact, it made it to their post office and I messaged them telling them it could be picked up from their post office. They didn’t get it in time and now it’s on its way back to me. Is there a way I can get this intercepted and have the zip code changed for them? I’ve looked all over the USPS website and there’s no good options. Anyone had to do this before? Sadly the post office told me that they couldn’t verify that address but that there were multiple zips and it could be correct. I told them to send it as messaged to me.

Thank you! Not blaming the buyer here just curious if there’s a way to intercept it because it’s still right there.

It's tough to get through to a postmaster who can actually do something for you at the local facility where the package currently sits, especially when it's moving. I've dealt with something similar... best chances are to wait for it to return and print a new label. You might have to pay for shipping again, honestly not sure. USPS can be tough to navigate with lost packages and often won't initiate a claim for a specified period. My. Two. Cents.

That’s what I was afraid of. Shipping is so expensive it’s almost not worth shipping it twice for what I sold it for.

It seems like since they made the original mistake *and* didn’t make it to the post office in time, they should pay for the additional shipping…

Ahh that’s up to the buyer. I was hoping I could help him out and get it sent back but appears that’s not likely. Im not bashing the buyer in this thread more so just looking to see if anyone has had luck with this problem.

When I was selling autographs and memorabilia years ago I was able to catch a few at a post office and have them held. That doesn’t seem to work anymore. 😡

It couldn't hurt to contact your local postmaster and plead that you made a mistake and would appreciate if they'd cover return shipping... Even though it wasn't your mistake.
