help?

Quite honestly I would buy a crk umnumzaan and a fiddleback forge fixed blade and save the rest for something else.

15? Hmmm. At 28, I still know exactly what my dad would say...."you dumbass, put that money in the bank. You'll just end up loosing the f'ing thing anyways!" )Not to say you are any of those things or will do many of those things. Just what advice my old man would tell me)But nonetheless, I haven't always done what advice my dad has said...

I would get a Sebenza, do my best not to lose it, and be done with it. Save the other $2500 and put it in a savings account. Go to college. Study as hard as you can, GET A DEGREE, a solid job, and use that money towards a house for you and any future family! Use money on things that will Make you money. Don't work for money, MAKE MONEY WORK FOR YOU

You're going to want a car while you are in college. If you already have that set up then the next big purchase
is going to be a house. Those are way more important than some knife you randomly pick out that happens to
fall within some price range you made up.

Get you a spyderco, benchmade, zero tolerance, emerson, hinderer, strider or chris reeve and put the money
away for a vehicle or a home down payment. Bigger down payment = lower monthly payments. It will make
your life a lot easier.

No offense intended, but you don't have enough time in the knife game to know the difference between a $500
knife and a $2,000 knife (PROBABLY). So don't go overboard with it. Get something of good quality that is moderately
priced and see how you do with that.

Best of luck.

Lolz, you were given 20K and the first thing you thought to buy was a new EDC?

You are one of us for sure:D

Seriously though, I would get a solid production folder and fixed blade combo, then start investing that money.

And not in knives:p:rolleyes:

Just my opinion though. It's your money and none of us are in any position to offer financial advice.

My opinion- buy a large Sebenza and invest the rest of the money for your future needs of school and house. $20,000 can be very hard to come by and will give you a great start in those areas.
As for the Sebenza-it is just a great user. Many of the customs though very nice sell at inflated prices. The Sebenza is a great knife , but still at a price that you don't have to be afraid to use it. They also have a great refurbishing service if you need it. Obviously those that have high end customs and use them may differ some on this opinion, but at your age I would preserve money. If all goes well in your life hopefully you will have expensive toy money latter.

Doing the smart thing really sucks doesn't it:)

Talk to your dad, Blade is coming up. Take a couple of buddies with you to Blade. Pay for your buddies, give them an experience they'll never forget. Do your homework before you go, have fun and hold the knife that speaks to you. You'll know when you have it in hand. And there's your 3k budget.
Hope you can pull it off.

Zero Tolerance. Buy a few and you won't be disappointed and save the rest for a sweet ride.

20 grand? I'm thinking I would get a sebenza, a Murray Carter knife and a Martin HD-28. That would make me happier man

First thing to do is buy a good shaving set up. You'll be shaving once a week or maybe even more before long and best be prepared!

What do you plan on using the knife for and what style of knife do you prefer?... Big and beefy overbuilt folder, do you want a flipper, or gentlemans knife, or traditional... Etc?

Check out Chris Reeves sebenza or umnumzaan, which are solid knives, famous fit and finish on his knives. More hardcore knives would be strider and Emerson, either of which you could go to war with. Emerson and strider also offer custom knives which can get expensive very fast. Most have already said this, but research is key. Many other choices out there, this place is a great resource for you in your search. Let me know if I can help in any way brother

Get a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 or Military (great work knives) and put away the rest in long-term COD at your local bank while you and your family discuss how best to earn interest/dividends. I believe you qualify for starting a Roth IRA.

Since you already have the PM2, opt for a limited run or a production knife you've always wanted. I am partial to Spyderco and Kershaw myself.

A personal finance class (do NOT discuss the 20K with anyone but nuclear family) can help you outline your future financial goals. Good luck, and take plenty of time to think it through.
