HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I've made a booboo. I've making my wife a paring knife with a deep blue marcata handle and a blade out of 01. It's satin finished and almost done but I forgot to put it in my oven and draw the temper. If if I do it now will I screw up the marcata? Please sent your suggestions soon. Thanks.

Sammy- Dave Ellis, ABS, Mastersmith here- For a paring knife I would not even worry about the temper. If you decide to draw it definitely remove scales first, temper in oven at around 375, three times for approx. one hour each. Check blade often should not get beyond a straw color. Feel free to contact me. http://www.mastersmith.com

Sammy, your O1 is likely about Rc64 right now. Unless you drop it in the sink or bang it against a pan, it should be OK. It certainly is more brittle than you'd like it to be, but it will work OK. Just treat it with respect.

And wash it seperately. It will tend to scratch anything it comes into contact with, including other knives, and gouge aluminum pans. The good news is it will keep its edge forever, the bad news is, you'll want to use power tools to sharpen it.
