Help!!!

How long was it in the Sheath for? A week or so is usually ok in a Kydex or even leather sheath if the leather is dry and the knife has been cleaned and oiled prior to storage-You do not need coating on Naked Infi-I used an ASH-1 Satin in Florida for two years and never experienced any rusting-However I ALWAYS clean and put a light coat of Mineral Oil on after use-Good habit to get into

It's been a few weeks. We packed up to start our move at the end of July and finally just moved into a house last week and starting to get everything unpacked. Was fine when I first pulled it out of my bag yesterday and then today it was there. I ordered some wax to use and I also have EDCi as well (once I find it in all the stuff!)

Been working on it but can still see some of it on the blade. It doesn't seem like rust though. More like patina

I tried keeping my custom shop R3 in mint condition. Can't be done when you use your blade. The satin will, eventually, develop a patina. SR101 will do that quicker than INFI.

I dipped my R3 in vinegar for a couple hours..... It's a dull gray. I use it in the kitchen and it changes colour as I use it on different food. The patina seem to help prevent rust.

Bummer when this happens to a safe queen though. Reminds me that I better check on my AK47. It's been nearly a year since I took it out. Got it covered in turtle wax.

That Gladius looks sweet! You seem to have fixed it up ok.

Adian i can provide safe, humidity free climate for it, till you get back to Nebraska lol

Oh yeah, got Sand dunes, Volcano ashes.... you name it lol but it would definitely come back rust free lol

I appreciate it!!! But if the military sends us back to NE I'm going to have a heart attack!!! [emoji51]

I'm hoping for Florida, Utah (MOAB!!!) or back home to Texas on the next duty station!

I appreciate the offer though!

I'm going to have to pull it out and test it on a coconut!!!

No necessarily a safe queen, it's just a big investment and I want to keep her in good shape! I have a big investment in blades and want to make sure they survive the humidity and salt in Puerto Rico until we move again

Yes. Don't store in sheaths. Just a few degrees difference between the knives and ambient temps may be enough for condensation in high humidity. In a sheath, the moisture may not evaporate. Oil them all. The Gladius may need a trip to Wauseon if you want to keep it mint/unused. Or, metal polish (Flitz, Mothers mag & aluminum polish), but to keep the satin finish even, you may have to do the whole blade, as metal polishes will cause shiny spots.

Jaxx I found some Mothers today in the automotive section at Walmart, brought it home and worked on the Gladius! Man that stuff works good!
