We can leave the appeal to each individual (some of the braiding and kinda cool looking), but from a utilitarian point of view, what we have is a better grip on a skeleton knife as well as a nice length of cord that might come in handy in camp or survivial situations.
It a very grippy handle. Anyone who has handled a Strider knife knows that. It is also an easily replaced handle, even in field conditions. It's lightweight. It has a lot going for it IMO.
