Helpful daily mantra

Back on the topic of remembering all your stuff when leaving the house, I'm pretty much guaranteed to have a pen, MT, light, and knife in their places about my pants anyway, just need to make sure I have keys, wallet, phone, and gun.

I found that as long as I place everything in my spot on the bartop every night, I never forget anything. There have been rare nights where I would set things somewhere else, and inevitably forget them the next morning on my way out the door. That's rare these days, however.

In order: Wallet, Credentials lanyard, key fob, Keybar, fountain pen, backup fountain pen, pick of two or three knives from several laid out for that purpose, grab an energy drink, and I'm out the door.

On weekends, add a gun to the above.

Carry other assorted gear in my day bag. The above are just what goes on my person each morning regardless of what day it is.

I say this to myself before I go out the door and it helps:

keys, money, phone
shades, shank, sh@t

I assumed that meant you take a crap or empty the bladder before you head out the door. Then I read your definition of "sh@t".

I also put my gear in the same place on my dresser at night and put it in it usual places when I get dressed. Like most of you, I'm a creature of habit.
I also do a pat down of my pockets right before heading out the door.

Like most, hand sanitizer, gloves, and a mask has been added to my daily gear.

Sh@t shower shave!

I do it differently than most I guess. I keep 3 pairs of pants set up. Work pants, jeans, shorts.

All have a belt, a caribina for keys, and a belt knife. Usually a Buck 110. Then move my keys and wallet from 1 to the other. Some days I change my pants 3 or 4 times. Each pair has specific items that stay in their pockets.

When I put on a clean pair of pants everything gets moved from the pockets of the dirty pair. No way to forget or lose anything.

I figure the "sh@t" should be the first thing you do, because if you put all your stuff in your pockets, then your pants will fall down with a "thunk" when you have to go the bathroom before you leave. :p

Someone said they needed cargo pants, what would a SWAT outfit look like? I bet it could hold all our gear!!! :D Snark happens.

My knives and watch sleep on my dresser. My keys, wallet, cell phone, work keycard, etc. have a tray at the end of my kitchen counter next to the door. I totally rely on the auto-pilot of habit getting my coffee-craving arse out the door most mornings.

Been a few times I've changed my pants after getting dressed and forgot to transfer my knives. Turns out I can get through the day just fine with only the Vic Rambler on my keychain. Haven't even died once...:rolleyes::p
