Don't worry, this is related to Busse Combat knives.

I have an interest in what has happened (and continues to happen) in Japan, because my work involves people and companies there, many friends and co-workers live there, my wife is Japanese, and her relatives are there.

Anyway, I am interested in selling one of my knives, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the America Red Cross for Japan relief efforts. In addition, my employer (Adobe Systems) is offering a 2-for-1 match for employee donations, meaning that the amount donated will be tripled.

I can do this one of two ways. One way is to simply put up a knife for sale at a specific price, and it is treated like a usual sale, except that the entire amount is donated. The other way is to do it auction style, and the highest bidder gets the knife, and the entire funds, whatever it ends up reaching, will be donated.

I haven't decided which knife to sell for this purpose, so this thread cannot be construed as a sale thread, because no specific knife is mentioned.

Thoughts? I am particularly interested in what Moderators think, and whether they have a preference.

Thanks...

Ken,

I believe that the best thing to do is post this as a question/request in the Service & Support forum. I can't move it as I'm not a Mod on this forum. Spark & the Super Mods are the ones to ask concerning your ideas. :)

Very generous of you, BTW.

Ken, I'm not sure if this would be allowed but the idea here is to raise as much cash for the donation as possible. A lottery style would raise more funds. If this was allowed everyone would "donate" say $100.00 for a "ticket" and using a random generator a winner would be determined. this way a higher amount is matched by Adobe.
One could buy/donae for as many $100 tickets as they wanted to increase the odds of them winning.
Again. I have no idea if this would be allowed...just an idea. im in if that works.

Just to chime in.
Japanese Red Cross is the way to go, they direct the monies very efficiently, used to work with one of their coordinators and they lose very little in overhead.

hope you raise a lot of money

I can verify this ... having already worked with them.

Japan's in trouble, friends. They need help. More than they realize.

If this get's off the ground, can ya post a link here or in the Busse forum on how we can donate to your employer or bid on your knife? THANKS KEN!!!

Yes, it would be nice if we could make a donation to this fund even if we aren't bidding on the knife; I'm sure a lot of folks (like me) would be happy to donate at least a few dollars; even if a few hundred forum members each gave 20.00 each that would be very significant by the time your employer 2-1 matches it. This is very generous of you and your employer! I agree with the Red Cross idea also, they are great.
