Hen And Rooster Stag pocketknife.

Nice. I like the old style german autos. Thanks for the tip on the Weidmannsheil knives.

Weidmannsheil was one of the brand names of Wilhelm Weltersbach, Solingen.
They also made knives for Puma and were in cooperation with Hubertus.
Weltersbach closed in 1994.
The trademark and brand name was bought by Josef Diefenthal.

There were Weidmannsheil parts and knives sold on US market lately that were obviously NOT made by Weltersbach and NOT by Diefenthal!
A small Solingen manufacturer who mainly produces knives for the US market is said to be responsible for these.

Hello Wolfgang,

Thanks for explaining that in much better detail. I know I read about the late Jim Parker meeting with the wife of Wilhelm but I stand corrected because I thought he bought the rights to the name as well. My foggy memory remembers reading now that he purchased lots of old knife parts as well.

Do you know if there is a link to the knife site now owned by Josef Diefenthal??

Thanks,

Sunburst

Unfortunately they do not have a website.

@zeppos
Just phoned to Diefenthal and was told they don`t wanna make public what`s in their steel. :grumpy: They just call it D2000.
Mrs. Diefenthal told me that it took quite some time to have this particular steel made and they are pleased with it`s toughness, ease of sharpening and the good edge taking and holding. :)
(What else should she say!?) :D
But I don`t think the steel is something very spectacular or mysterious. Just a good steel quality with a good heat treatment. That`s it. ;)

Just phoned again because I wanted to know where to find all their different knife models (catalog, website? etc.) but there was the answering machine only.
The text was: "This is cutlery Weidmannsheil, Josef Diefenthal.........."

Thanks for sharing your information Wolfgang..If you do come across a way to get a catalog for Josef Diefenthal I would be very interested as well.

Thanks,

Sunburst
