I saw a model 2015 listed for sale that had what appears to me as ano on a lot of the parts (https://henningssonknives.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/image6.jpg) and am just curious if all the colors will wear off of a knife like this? I know the ano on my sebenza thumb stud didn't take long at all to wear so just curious since I've also handled other materials which held the ano perfectly fine with extreme wear.

Send the man an email and ask him. Seems like a nice guy and happy to share info.

Lol I did the same time I asked in this section.

His response was the spring and clip will wear over time but thinks the patina gives the knife its sole after use and that the clip was simply heat so an oven could return it.

It's just weird that different materials I've had experience with have very different wear characteristics and don't understand why or how.

For example- modern yo yos that are used as unresponsive and off string titanium rarely show any wear from string constantly rubbing them and hands are touching them way more than one handles a pocket knife. The aluminum ano yo yos and fishing reels I've handled are ver very tough as well and seem to chip before wearing so figured there were different ways to make the ano resistant to wear in a way or figured the materials themselves that were being ano-ed have different wearing properties.

It just seems like the ano on sebenzas thumb studs wear faster than any other ano I've ever had experience with and was curious if makers had some insight about why that could be?

You can´t compare anodizing aluminum to titanium since that is a whole different and much more complex process. It involves opening up the pores of the metal, colouring it with a dye and closing the pores up again. As such it is a much more wear-resistant finish than anodized ti or heat coloured steel.

I think the maker gave you a clear and honest description of his colourings. As long as the colourings are in the lower spots, they are well protected and should not wear much.
