While I am putting up a thread to than Mike for his great gift to me, I would like to show you a few of my latest, I would have liked to take photo's of the rest, but it may expose me to having the problem that my Visa knows I have :o
Here are a few ( what I think are ) neat Vintages.....

Made in U.S.A , now I wasnt too sure who made this, but the seller ( our good friend Paul ) thinks its Camillus, and with research this seems to be the case, and I for one am a huge fan of the Camillus brand. The bone just looks sweeter than honey, the blades are in superb condition, please forgive me for the disgusting wipe marks that I left on the blade before taking the photo's-Im not happy about that-but I am running out of time....The actions of this knife screams just how beautifully built this knife is-what a pleasure to own...

This knife has a very solid Sheepsfoot, and the knife has fantastic Swedges on its blades

Here is another very nice knife, Electric Cut Co, Walden. This knife is a beaut-the lovely jigged bone has speckles of white paint, that soon will be removed with a slight bath in Mineral Oil, and a gentle nudge with a wooden skewer on each of the individual specs-and it will look just stunning!, sporting a neat Match-Strike pull ... a nice knife, I hope you think so....

A nice 4 line Camillus, hey-this knife wears it age well, has Patina-the works, but the actions of this knife are just great-nice & assertive, Great Bone, not a lot of loss on the blades....

Ok..now the good old diamond Edges, Imperial did good when they made these fantastically built knives, sure the Delrin is plain but the performance of these knives is something else!
This Stockman is as solid as a rock!, I have a few of these budget orientated knives, but if I ever see a tidy one?...I grab it as fast as I can!
Thank you Paul for all of your help, knowledge, and friendship.

They are all absolutely fantastic-looking knives Duncan. Thanks for sharing them :)

These are all great looking knives I tend more towards the bone scales knives, these are iconic. Thanks so much for sharing.

I always like looking at the your collection. Thanks for the post!

Great knives and great images, Duncan!

Duncan, you done good, son. Very good, in fact.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I learn so much just browsing this part of town.

KG

You and me both my friend-believe me!

Thank you for your kind comments, , coming from a great bunch like yourselves-I am thrilled you like them, thank you.

I have to add, that a lot of people may look at a knife such as the Imperial stockman I have just shown...and think "oh yeah"...and I honestly can relate to how we can think that, but it wasnt until I read a wee bit, looked at other peoples knives like these budget knives I started to realise just how good-a-knife these really are!, and then I bought one...well that was the end of that :), these knives are fantastically built, the actions are just as good as a lot of "higher end" knives.
I read somewhere not too long ago here in these parts, that these budget knives were so good-they were produced in huge numbers, and used in huge numbers as well.... in fact used so much and were so good, that they can easily turn in a collectable knife in their own right, because there arent too many Minties left!! and we later realise that they actually are a very good knife!
I hope I havent made a fool of myself by saying this :o

Great finds Duncan, ya don't see bone like that anymore or the jigging that goes with that time period.

Sweet, thanks for the pics, if ya look hard enough, there are still gems to be found at a reasonable price.

Great stuff Duncan. I think I need to rest for a bit, you really hit me with a bout of the old knife-itis. ;)

Thanks for sharing those Duncan, really nice group of knives. That 4 line is just wonderful with the fine patina.

Duncan,
thank you for your thread and pictures. As you know, I'm not into old/vintage knives, but the lines of the Electric Cut Co Walden look really really nice to my eyes. Nice worn bone, and blade/handle design. The more I look at vintage knives, the more I believe that modern cutlery should get more inspiration from those knives and resurrect more of these patterns. I'm not against innovation, not at all; I just believe there are beautiful knives, no matter what year they were designed...and beautiful knives deserve to be produced in modern time as well. Unfortunately, it seems that only custom makers tend towards that, while factories don't do it (or at least not as much as I wish for). Looking at this particular knife, I see the traces of it in the latest GEC #85 jack, and I think there's still hope :)

Duncan,

those knives are just looking great - each of them. Congratz to these nice finds, my friend! Honest patterns, each of them.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi,

A very nice score!! I really enjoy the Camillus. I have yet to find one in that beautiful condition, (but I keep huntin'). I really like the EO. The story it tells of work, play, and care is enjoyable.

Other than photos, I know so little about about such companies as the Electric Cut Co. And I tend associate Imperial with the clipped on false scales and $2 knives. So I really enjoy seeing things like the Diamond Edge. I need to learn more. And this is a great place to learn!

You certainly can't go wrong with any of them Duncan, and that Camillius Cattleknife is something else:thumbup:!
