Thanks Snake - I've still got about 8 to go. I've got two CS Trailhawks that I'm going to mod. I hope to do better on them. On the one I woodburned, I didn't get the arrow very straight or as good as I wanted.

I've also been doing walking sticks of chokecherry wood. I'll post some of those pictures here too.

My Friends: I've made about 10 of these walking sticks. But I've also given most of them away. Here are three and I put a long handle garden cultivator in the picture for perspective. The block fence is 4" tall.

PS Snake - even thought I don't have my Pit Bull any longer (The dog in the picture wasn't mine - but I really like the picture!). My son does still have his. I'll post a picture of his dog sometime soon. BTW, thanks for your kind words!

Teague,
Nice work. Makes me want to get working on my axes & hatchets. I was gonna save them for winter projects, but now I'm not gonna wait. BTW, where in Idaho?

Jason

Nice looking collection you have going there. You did a good job on cleaning them up.
Thanks for the pic's and keep them coming when you get more done....

Junkyard - Thanks for the compliment. I live in Burley.

vec - thanks for the comment. Your opinion humbles me.

Dusty - Will do and thanks for your comments.

Nice work! I like all the walking sticks a whole lot too!

There's something really special about old axes, isn't there?

Thanks Dogwood! There sure is something special about old hatchets and axes. The American frontier was built by the blades of these special tools. They used axes and hawks/hatchets to build their homes, collect wood for the winter and even fought with them. They (hawks/hatchets) go perfectly With a Bowie Knife and Hawkin .50 BP rifle.

You got that right Teague, Hawk's & Hatchet's with a Bowie on the side a 50 Cal. Hawken Rifle, You did a Great Job on the Walking Stick's, And they do come In Handy, Walk Softly & Carry A Big Stick !

Thanks you guys. I've got four more almost ready. I'll post them in a day or so.

Here is the next batch of four..

The first one is and old Plumb. It already had the design carved into it. I sandblasted the head then soaked it in apple cider vinegar overnight to put a patina on it. I did the same (sandblasting and vinegar treatment) on the head of the second (Acme) hatchet. The third picture is a Collins hatchet and the head already had a great patina on it with little rust. Tha last hatchet is a Vaughn #99 Professional. I left the head alone on it and just cleaned it up and sharpened it after refurbishing the handle. I hope you enjoy looking at these. I still have two hawks and two specialty hatchets left to finish. Enjoy!

BTW, the pictures don't do justice to the way the handles turned out.
