took a quick hike yesterday. i got the beckerhead bk-10 right when they came out but this is actually the first time i took it out in the woods...been too busy mountain biking. this area got dumped with over a foot of snow last weekend. really weird to see snow while the leaves are still up there.

handling the bk-10 at home i actually like it better than the bk-2 but when it came to the woods, now i'm not sure. anyone else completely favor the bk-10 over the bk-2 after using them side by side? or vice-versa? i'm probably going back there tomorrow for a solo overnighter so the bk-10 will get a good workout...stay tuned for some more becker action!

Great pics, thanks for sharing!

I love my BK10 and I HATE my BK2. I have tried real hard several times to like the BK2, I guess it is just not for me!

I did take the thumb ramp off the BK10, other than that I love it just the way it is.

Jay, you take some of the best pics, man. Plus, I love the looks of that place.

I prefer the BK2, but that's just me. :D

I can't wait to see how your overnighter turned out.

I love the bk2 but I miss my 10 something fierce. For a knife I wouldn't mind being lost with, the bk2 all day long. but that 10 really makes good work out of regular trips and can even hold its own. I've actually been using my 7 alot more lately (mainly since it was my.only blade) and an appreciation of the .188 1095 has grown inside me. I used to be .25 or nothing, bk2 or go home. but I've started to learn what the slightly thinner thickness can do, and while nothing splits like a bk2, nothing of equal size carves like a bk10. Come home crewman, come home....

Awesome picture! Like bow fishing but better. What were the temps out there?

Great pics, thanks for sharing!

I think you should send me your BK2 so it can have a loving home.

Man I need to git me one of those fishing poles :D Seriously!!!

I just don't know which I like 'better.' I have my 2 set so I can do some pretty fine detail work if I have to. But then the 10 can get a finer edge on it too. I just need to play more that's all.

Let us know how it goes

Great photos.
I have the same problem. I love the BK-2. But, I also love my BK-710 (7 I made into a 10) But then again, I REALLY love the BK-12. You should throw one of those into the mix and see what you come up with.

Jv3 I started out liking the 10 over the 2. But over time, that 2 just seems to be my go to companion. Still like the 10 for carrying long distances, but I'm always thinking about the 2. Guess in a have to take only one situation, it would be the 2 for me.

Here fishy, fishy, then seeing the first photo made the whole post.... that was good stuff.. awesome pics bro...

Jay we need to talk about what we talked about when we talked :D...

pm sent..

Reading the title, then looking at that pic... I agree, made the post.

...some more pics.

nice spot. once everything turns brown my shelter will be even harder to see.

029_002.jpg

one of many casualties from the massive snow in october!

perfect spot for my shelter - the ground has a bowl shape to it and there's a boulder in front of the entrance that deflects the wind...and this water source is very reliable even during summer.

bcusa 5'x7' "survival" tarp. first time out with it as well.

forgot to include my orange military in the other pic.

i can sit here for hours and just listen to the water!

029_009.jpg

more snapped trees. the bright side is we can now camp pretty much anywhere next summer and there'll be a consistent supply of dried wood.

029_011.jpg

the bk-10 has been watching too much man vs. wild while i'm not at home i see.

029_012.jpg

neat fork on this tree.

029_013.jpg

gotta chop that deadfall down before the bk-10 gets any more ideas!

029_015.jpg

this was a well-seasoned, dry wood. the machete bites almost as deep as an axe! i'm really gravitating away from "choppers"/big knives since i always carry a ~4" anyway might as well carry a better chopper. for serious wood processing i bring an axe anyway...i sold my bk-9 awhile ago, now i can't believe my junglas might be next.

the sun was setting on my way out and these guys started showing up.

DUDE !!!!

Why must you torment me so??????????

that looks awesome and not to cold either, absolutely perfect weather......

you know I agree, 'chete's rock and for the most part big knives are just hype we've come accustomed to :D

Awesome photos. Looks like a great camping area.

Also, I've never camped like that, but I think I'd like to try it sometime.

had to run that last picture through a photo processor :) it's VERY clearly a deer... however, funny, didn't look like it to start.

lots of "obscure" pictures need level enhancement to show ... things ... the person didn't want you to ever see :) heh.
