If you have not seen a KA75 hammer check out:

http://www.ka75.com/

First. The KA75 is an air striking hammer, it doesn't do continuous blows like a regular power hammer, but instead will give a light or hard blow with every press of the foot pedal (one press for every blow). Here is one hammer utilizing "Jim Batson" style dies, forging a knife from flat bar and one from round bar.

An "interesting" setup for sure. Let me know if you were yelling "TAKE ANOTHER HEAT" also hehe.

I would love too see more about the hammer itself, and less  about the cold hammering of a knife like object! "Take another heat", it's like you lost the heat along time ago!!!!!!! Dude; when it turns stone cold black the heat is dead as well is your ability to forge, you are now just cold forming metal1

Cool hammer Derrick, I like the control of it. How many layers was that billet?

Kinda weird with the two cylinders but obviously workable and control seems very good. Seems like a very sound design and I believe the price is in the same range as a rebuilt LG 100#. Still cheaper to make your own though.

Here's another video... Somebody built a power hammer out of wood!

Hey Brion - haven't spoken in a while, hope all is well. That billet started out as 11 layers of 1080 and 15n20. It's nice being able to draw out a billet like that in just one or two heats. My first few attempts at damascus were done with hand hammers and, well, it took a little while to get the layer count up.

Justin, yep, I'm still alive, just trying to extract myself from this morass I've found myself in at work these last few years.

so whats the impression of the KA75 for you guys?

jake

Overpriced and way underpowered. It seems like a really good hammer for tooling which is what I think its main purpose is. I don't think it would be good for drawing out steel, upsetting, or other applications that require more force.

Edit- Then again I do hot work for my main income, for a hobbyist it should be fine.

Nice video's Sam, I think I'm going to take a video of mine soon since I'm much better at running it now. I just need to bribe someone to be my camera man. :)

As long as we're sharing, here's an old clip I dug up the other day.

Here I'm making the first weld on a billet of damascus and drawing it out on my Bullhammer.

Derrick, great video! That Bull looks like an awesome hammer I would love to see it run in person.

Dan, good to hear you are making friends with that big beast :D Call your GF! Get two birds with one stone, you get her to come over and hang out AND you get some PH time.

Well Anna is scared of the hammer... plus she used to call it "my other girlfriend". :D Maybe I can convince her to if I bribe her with something shiny like a silver necklace.

Del I really like the smaller hammer in the second video at 6:45 minutes into the video. Not too big for one person but still big enough to do large stock reduction.
