Here Is My Reluctant Congrats To Garth For Destroying Me In The 1" Hemp Rope Cut!

After seeing this thread yesterday. Then the fact I love the mudder grips and a choil...it had to happen!
And I got a regular retriever on the way so it seemed like a good pairing.

I bet he was a bit sore after that.

It made my hands hurt..................all 20 lbs of them ;)

“Better” is subjective, depending upon your use case. As Jerry has explained, the chemical formulation of the steel is exactly the same as the regular INFI we’ve all come to know and love over the decades. The only difference with INFI-XC is the heat treat protocol which has been modified to enhance edge retention at the expense of absolute toughness and impact resistance. You can let your penchant for abusing blades be your guide as to which flavor will best meet your needs.

I suspect a lot of folks, particularly those purchasing blades on the shorter end of the Busse spectrum, are going to become quite fond of INFI-XC.
It''s the same as the current INFI chemical formula, not the same as the formula from decades back. It has changed.

This thread made me order one off the Busse site today!

So, is the model that is available on line the XC heat treat protocol?

Pittybull Pittybull was interested in normal HT INFI.

The one in the cut test:
“It was a satin finished, INFI Magnum Retriever with the INFI-XC Heat Treat Protocol.”

The Mini Mean Street is XC (regular release)

“INFI-XC is not a change in INFI's composition or constituents. It is simply a change in our heat-treat protocol.”

I was hoping the one on sale was xc. But i noticed its not. Oh well.

Yeah, without XC, the next time you need to cut 3,000 sections of 1” hemp rope, you’d be taking a huge chance you might have to resharpen before the job was done. Good thing you checked!

Haha, I don't need more of the same old same old. But something different is justifiable.
