Here she is a beast. This thing is heavy esp compared to my 32. What's your Guys take on it? Rare? It's ground down pretty good on the one side really is a shame. I'm going to clean off the blue pain and take off the crappy handle.

It doesn't look like 7 pounds from those photos - comparing it to the size of the haft. How thick is it? Can you take a picture showing the top of the eye and another image showing the whole handle? It would help us to put it into scale.

Mike

I think it's pretty rare just because of the weight. It's in pretty good shape except for the grind job. You should be able to make it a little more uniform. I would definitely have bought it just because it is so unique.

Cool find! I wish I had your luck.

I'll take more pics and measure it it's pretty thick and from top to bottom as well, I'll use my kelly double 32 as a comparison.

I gues the true test will be to weigh it. Of course I'm sure it will be less than 7 with that grind job but it's definitely heavier than the 32 doubles I have. There are no other weight marks and I believe it to be a true 7lb Kelly.

Yeah I can't see using it much and I probably won't hold on to it. I'm thinking it might go on the bay just for the heck of it.

I honestly don't know what would even be fair. I can't find any online or on the bay to compare it to not a7lb version anyhow.

Well I think I'll sit and think about this one for a while. If and when I decide to list it I'll be sure to let you all know. I'm going to clean it up a little and remove the paint maybe sharpen it up I'll probably sit in it for a little unless someone makes me an offer I can't refuse.

It's not something I would be interested in. Just putting in my two cents. I am sure you would have some interest, how much is hard to say. I have not seen one before though.

I've never seen one. In the picture it looks like it's really not too much different in length from the eye on either side. It might look more even if the back of the grind line on the heavily used side is taken down a little and shaped like the other side.

Operator he is looking for a Kelly Perfect Jersey, a good one;)

Near mint:D

Haha u guys are awesome. I'm not sure what to do w it to be honest. I'll clean it up n even out the bit a little maybe even put a nice edge on it and re hang it on a nicer handle. Decisions decisions. Whatever I do I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

Believe it or not, I do not own nor ever have owned a kelly perfect jersey, seeing I still can't find the "perfect" one.

The 7 lber would be worth quite a but if it was all there, as in not ground down and bits mis-sharpen. Once u get the handle off weigh the head and see how close to 7 lbs it actually is.

I am more curious as to why it was even made in the first place. I have a hard time imagining swinging a 4 lb db all day, let alone a 7 lber. Also, seeing that obviously a 7 lb db wasn't that popular, just how many of those were ever made? You have to think about that. The Kelly perfect line in jerseys, single bits, and double bits were each made in the millions - but I wonder just how many 7 lb Kelly's there ever were made???

Yeah I'm definitely interested to find out what it does weigh. I'll post any and all info I aquire about it and post more pics when I get around to re shaping and cleaning it up. I have a new (new to me anyhow) 6" belt sander that should help with re shaping. I'll also more than likely give it a vinegar bath if nothing else just to see where the temper lines are or how much is left. I think it will clean up nicely and them when it's all said and done and on done with it I might list it on the bay. I looked at the Kelly catalog or the reference in an axe to grind of the diff patterns and listed weights. It's seems they only made the 7lb heads in double bit in two patterns (michigan and western or Pennsylvania) they do have other heads (single bit) listed up to 7lbs also. Interesting... If anyone finds any more info on the 7lb heads please post any info.

You give a response to this resident racist, a guy who would push an old lady in a walker off a curb and laugh if she happened to be black of Jewish, for example? Why? Because he has a great axe collection?
