Here it is! Kelly true temper 7lb double

Then you are owed an explanation. After being called out on a posting under the "Hipsters" topic, Operator75 freely laid claim to his views. Why he chose to bring it all here is the mystery.

Oh.. Well I have no idea how a post in another thread of the past has anything to do w this post about a 7lb true temper western double. What is between you guys is just that. I'm new on here and I'm here for info and posts about axes and knives not anything else. Nor will I get involved with or have anything to do with any arguing on here unless it's about axes haha. But I'm still wondering where that came from. But thank you for the explaination.

I was a bit lost as well.... I'm hoping to keep this thread drama free. It's about the axe not whatever all that is all about. Anyhow I'm starting to sand the axe I need to get it off the handle. Looks like someone tried to use plater or cement in the top eye to keep things in place. Smh I hope to have it cleaned up and an official weight on it soon.

Folks, if there is a problem you need to take it to email or Whine and Cheese. Crapping in a thread about an unrelated topic makes no sense and is not fair to an innocent discussion.

Don't look at me I didn't do anything. Not sure what his problem is.

Back to 7 lbers - how much weight do u think it has left on it? 6lbs +??

It's hard to guess honestly, I mean I don't have any other 7lb to compare it to. But I'm guessing around there some where. I def plan on weighing it up soon though.

I'm not sure what to do w it to be honest. I'll clean it up n even out the bit a little maybe even put a nice edge on it and re hang it on a nicer handle.

I wouldn't be quick to change the shape of that blade. Granted, it's not in great shape. But it's value if any lies in it's weight and uncommonness. I don't think re-profiling would add any value to it.

Yeah if I did I wouldn't be taking much off just a little blending if u will. Mostly just how the angle is. They ground quite an angle on it and I'd like to round it out a little maybe file some of the chips out of the edge and sharpen. That's all I really planned on doing. But first thing is first I still need to get it off the haft and weigh it. I'll probably get started on that after work today.

I have a hard time imagining swinging a 4 lb db all day, let alone a 7 lber..."

I swung a 4.5 lb single bit axe all day, for about 3 months straight this summer. It was my first season with an axe that heavy, but I am definitely of the opinion that I didnt work as hard as previous seasons of trail opening with our 3.5 double bits. I could definitely out-chop all of my crew-mates and I can only really attribute it to the extra "oomph" i had with another lb in the head, seeing as one of my buddies is a very, very decent competition trained chopper. As long as your cheek profile is decent, and it sinks (and *pops*) instead of bounces and bludgeon, methinks you would see gains as well :)

I am currently working on a 5lb hytest to be my main chopper for next year-- cant wait!
