That's a pic of the burial site. . . ooops. . . that was close!

Here's your first real clue:

"Nick was a giver, a real saint. He lived at 1566 Catalina in the oldest neighborhood in the state. . . "

Go get 'em boys!!!!

Jerry

I am going looking tommorow for the desert santa claus that lives in catalina ? Tucson is called the old pueblo & has been called the oldest neighborhood, if you where here why did you not say hi & no it is not time for a visit Bravado :D

One of the first settlements by the spanish in what is now South Carolina was established at Santa Elena in 1566, by Pedro Menendez.

" Menéndez' daughter, Catalina, inherited the title of Adelantado of Florida, and ultimately her husband, Hernando de Miranda, was appointed Governor."

St. Elena is now known as Parris Island South Carolina in Beaufort County.

Located on St. Catherines is the lost Mission Santa Catalina, Georgia's oldest known church. The sixteenth century church was begun in 1566 when the Spanish of St. Augustine, under the command of Governor Pedro Menendez de Aviles, began their program of mission development in the area known as the Province of Guale. The Santa Catalina mission on St. Catherines Island was the primary mission-presidio of the Spanish in a line of converts established on many of the barrier islands between Parris Island, South Carolina and Amelia Island, Florida. Initially Jesuits carried out the conversion of the Guale Indians but were succeeded by Franciscan friars by 1573.

Doesnt look like anywhere in Indiana unless Jerry planted those cacti...

Here is a twist:

Perhaps it is Santa Catalina Islands? http://www.ecatalina.com/
Or nearby California (San Diego Area?)

But that leads to this:
http://www.nps.gov/cabr/juan.html
and
http://www.nps.gov/cabr/florplnt.html
"Coastal Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia littoralis)

Coastal prickly pear is found at low elevations along the coast, blooming from May to June. It si a sprawling plant with broad, flat joints (spiny, thick "cactus" leaves). The showy flowers are pale yellow with many overlapping, waxy petals « to 2 inches long. The fruits are pear-shaped, dark reddish-purple and covered with bristles. Known as a tuna in Spanish, the fruit is edible and quite tasty; something like kiwis without the skin, but with many seeds."

[Added] Perhaps more chaff?

Clyde! You da Man!!!!!!

Nice job! This one is in Georgia! Excellent work Clyde! I thought it would take you guys a couple of months to get this state figured out. Now let me come up with a clue that will narrow the focus down a little bit further.

Congrats!

Jerry

Good job Clyde!!

I think I need to take up horseshoes and handgrenades and quit smoking.

Oh Dang !!!!!! :grumpy:

Here we go with your next clue.

I suppose that if anyone should have received the ultimate prize for journalism, it would have been Phil's kid. Impossible? Yes. But why?

He sure did love this place.. . .Duh!!!! Obviously!

Good luck gang!!!!

Jerry

Isn't Savannah the oldest city in the state? (At least I'm on the correct coast this time! )

-SB

Oh found this too:
"Savannah's Pulitzer Prize winning poet Conrad Aiken"

-SB

I hope this is helping:

"Confined within its boundaries and enclosed within its vaults, crypts and plots are a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, politicians, plantation proprietors, publishers, soldiers and a songwriter. It has become a destination of choice for readers of a best-selling book about our city and some of its more colorful citizens.

"It," of course, is Bonaventure Cemetery,"

Me too!! Guess we'll have to standby for some confirmation from da man on Savannah.

A GA writer did win a Pulitzer, Conrad Aiken. He did write a poem entiltled "The Kid" and he is from Savannah (which is near St Catherine's).

Clyde

Did I say he "won" the pulitzer? Who's Phil???? Did you guys read some different clues than the ones I posted? ;)

Good luck!

Well...I did also find some info on a book "Phil's Kid" by Martin but didn't make any other connections yet. I'm just hoping it's not at the Waverly, I don't think they have quite gotten over the last Blade Show yet!!
Stay Safe,
Clyde
