my first Barlow. Just got back from a gunshow. A guy sold me on this 1980's Case Appaloosa Barlow for $45. I couldn't turn it down. Looking forward to carrying this one. Anyone else EDC a Barlow on a regular basis? If so feel free to show it off here.

I don't carry one, I don't own one, but they sure look pretty! The Barlow is probably my next pattern to try out. Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations! Barlows are the greatest!

Good deal on a very nice Barlow! I recently picked up a couple used Barlows on __bay. I have the same pattern (#45 I think), but with black bone scales and a spear master blade instead of the clip blade (45-'64 vintage). Makes for a great EDC knife.

I also love the #05 Barlow pattern with razor and pen blades. I'm trying to put together a collection from different decades (only have two so far). I'll try to post a couple pictures later.

don't have a barlow, but they look like good solid using knives...

it is high on the list of patterns to try out.

that bone looks really good.

I almost bought a spear blade barlow in bone stag. It was a tough decision. Nice collection.

Very nice Barlow!!! I EDC several from time to time and really enjoy. Easy pocket carry. I'd say you got a great deal.

Enjoy,

Paul

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm enjoying so far. Doing some work in the veggie garden. Just cut myself, didn't enjoy that.

I have a Henckles single blade barlow with stag. I carry it from time to time in my casual rotation.

That's a good looking barlow. Nice find. I have a few barlows myself and they are good using knives. I bet it will become a favorite.

There is one downfall. I guess between the excitement and my cranky daughter I didn't realize it at first. The joints are tight as hell that my thumb nail is sore. Any suggestions to help ease this tight slip? Thanks.

I use Tuf-Glide. I'd try that and work the joint for a while. It'll probably loosen up over time but it may take a while.
My new custom barlow from Ray Smith has a spring like that. I like the tension but I definitely felt it after several openings and closings.

Don't worry about using only Tuf-Glide. I'm sure Break-Free or other light machine oil would probably work as well.

Otherwise, I'd post a question over in the "maintenance" section. Seem to be a lot of innovative folks over there.

I did post it there. I have a lot of stuff at work too that I may be able to use. Thanks again.
