I just received my Ray Smith custom barlow and the backspring is just right on this one. I did put a drop of oil in the joint to smooth things up.
 
Well, I put some oil in the joint and it seemed to help a little, but I think will have a better result in time. This has become one of my favorites and makes a great pair with my medium jack. But, that may change when I get my Queen Birds Eye Maple Gunstock this week.:thumbup::thumbup:

Well, that pair's got the authentic vintage look to it. In fact, your barlow looks like it's leaking oil. Better check the gasket. ;)
