Sam,
I thought your original story about meeting Henry was too good to be true! And when I read your "update", I thought the "ending" was too sad to be true! But I guess Life is an "extreme sport." My sympathies for your loss.
I really admire the spirit of your GAW; what a splendid gesture in memory of Henry! Congratulations to Ronnie for winning the Tinker (IMHO, Henry had great taste, since I carry a Tinker every day

), and I admire his "pay it forward" plans for the knife.
For what it's worth, here's an apocryphal story (not really a joke) that I thought of when I first read your sad news. Back in the 18th century, there was a famous French mathematician/scientist named Laplace who wrote a masterpiece on celestial mechanics, and presented a copy to Napoleon. Napoleon supposedly said something like, "Monsieur Laplace, I'm told that you've written this large book on the system of the universe without even mentioning its Creator." Laplace replied, "I had no need of that hypothesis." Napoleon later told another eminent French mathematician, Lagrange, about this, and Lagrange replied, "Ah, but it's a fine hypothesis; it explains so many things." For some reason, this story provides some comfort to me in dealing with life's "inexplicable stuff". Of course, YMMV.
