Here`s the Deal

Well, that Wing is a fine bike, and made stateside. You'll love it, I'm sure. Only complaint I ever had was that a motorcycle with a reverse gear is sorta weird to me, as was aftermarket air conditioning for a bike.:D

As or them Indians, the only prob with them is George has one and I don't! Grampa was Waukegan's first motorcycle cop, when the main road was still cordouroy. He road a Henderson 4!

For me, though it leaks, shakes, and ain't that fast, I'll stick with that HD Heritage cuz it gets me anywhere in this country I want and wherever it breaks there's always someone to fix it! hehehe! What I like most is the 1/2 quart of oil that belches outta the tube after it's dripped into the crankcase over the winter. Plus, the "community" is as cool as the knifemakers.

The important fact is you're up on two wheels. Keep the rubber side down, and enjoy! Good riding!

Well if you want to see what I look just look at Gouges picture and Imagine someone older, better looking and with a shirt.:D

Bruce, I have an old 1000 goldwing I've been trying to put back together for a year. (basket case) I can't figure what makes the silly coil fire. Sure isn't the ground. :o

Well George, this old hippie would like to have
another norton or even a indian.
But I have two things in my way. The wife likes
the GW`s an the indian`s are big bucks

Hey Bump the reason I was lookin at new GW`s
because of O miles. But it sounds like I
could get one with say 80,000 an it would
still have a lot of life in her. Man that
would save me a bunch of cash

i had a 58 royal indian 750cc in my late teens and a couple of GWs in my twentys i wont ride where i live now. the people have got there horn and brake pedal confused:confused: what i have hear these days is the honda sometimes has more domestic parts than the harley does.

Mike I had a HD many many years ago.
Rode it for a month, well tried to ride it.
It was in the shop more then on the road.
I got it from the police dept., it was an
old side shifter an thats about all i can
remeber about it. That an it was a piece of
sh-t

Over the years, I've owned Harleys, British, Japanese, and Euro. About six years ago I decided to stay with Harleys - I have an old one (shovel) and a newer one (evo). In the last six years I've put about 70K on these two and about 7k on rental Harleys. Well, after all those miles I haven't broken down once. Pre-evo Harleys needed a rebuild as soon as they came out of the dealer. My 80' shovel has nothing left internally that is made by HD. My 98' Evo is basically a factory machine. Anyway, HD's troubles ended over 20 years ago, but the "broke on the side of the road" myth persists.

Granted, a GW might be the milage king in the long haul, and I do like bikes other than Harleys (and Indians!) , I just can't abide by the more "modern" GWs ( I did like the older 1200s) because they look like someone crossed a Winnebago with a slot machine....well, just my opinionated 2 cents worth (enough bike talk!)

Good thing I was sitting down when I saw that pic.
I thought it was me with long grey hair
and a beard with someone's good looking
women for a sec there.
don't worry about the finger mine gets
stiff that way too..
you work it enough it will loosen up.
if not you can just keep giving directions to people
:D

The photo itself was not scarey, but that finger! I feel so
sorry for you. That looks like MIDDLE FINGER HYPERREFLEXIA
and that has a very bad prognosis!

Peter, The GL1000 has ignition points and a ballest resister. The coil gets 12 volts when the starter button is pushed in and 6 volts when running.

Sylvester, The new GL1800 may be hard to find with 8500 miles but I wouldnt be afraid to get a used one if it hasnt been wrecked. I really like the 1500. Except for alternator brushes and an occasional spark unit, Ive never seen one quit running. The trike kits are very cool!

I have owned about 75 motorcycles. The most fun one was a 1998 Ural with a factory sidecar. Not much for speed but what a Babe magnet. Half naked women lined up to ride in the sidecar!:D

Hey Bruce, I meant to say 85,000:rolleyes:
I don`t think the wife would like the
half naked women part but I would:D
Jim took the wife on a ride on his softtail
now she`s say a two wheeler would be ok WOMEN:confused:

softtail - stiff finger, you may have some problems
down the road, she's gona want to ride on the bike
now.:D Bruce, half naked is good:cool:
:p

OK Sylvester
I have to how much we look a like.
well.... now that were compaired we don't do we??:D
what do you think Not Bad for 47 aye..:D

I have one word for all you HD and Indian owners VALKYRIE..how do you guys like the view from way back there?

A friend, or lets say an aquaintance of mine got a ticket a couple of months ago on a suped up Suzuki crotch rocket. His speed on radar? 214MPH. Honest to Gawd! "He gots no driver's license no mo'!" He is still wondering why he stopped...

I think my grandaddy was right...

Cl, Damn I bet your friend was laying on the tank with his feet sticking straight out behind him. I have never went over 140 and that was fast enough to tell my grandkids about.

No Bruce, he stated that he was in the fetal position which I would have been as well but for a completely different reason! :)
