Junk Yard Dog I, bought in November.
What is up with this partially drilled hole in the left side?
Have not seen that one anywhere else.

JYD II SG2
9/32 difference in the length of the upper flat portion of the blade from side to side.
3/32 difference in width of same area.
Maybe I am nit-picking, but it is still unacceptable for a knife I paid $150.00 for. But I have folks on my birthday list that will get these some time this year. I still have the boxes.

im sure if your not happy with the knives kershaw will help you out. all companies make mistakes. atleast kershaw is one that will correct them.

Thomas already tried that. no sense in saying it again

That is right. One reachs a point where you say ENOUGH! Since 1999 I have bought 5 kershaw knives, and every one of them has some glaring defect. 4 of the 5 for the same thing as the JYDII, really crooked blades.
So I think it is easier just to get rid of the things and not buy any more.
5-out-of-5 sucks.
I have over 100 knives, and the only ones I have that I am dis-satisfied with are the kershaws.
OOPS, I mean 4 as I already gave away the leek when the spring broke.
My dad will get the random task the next time I am in McAlester Oklahoma.
The others will go to people on my birthday list.

Looks like some people will be getting some great B-Day gifts. I have bought probably 60 Kershaws in the last year and I have had to send back 3. Your thread got me to looking and I still haven't seen any grinds as bad off as you say. A very few are less than perfect but not even so bad as to be noticeable. I'll tell you what sucks .... your luck.

You really should send the knives back. It doesn't matter if you never buy another, you should let Thomas get you knives that are perfect then you can enjoy them. That is why we do this...to enjoy the knives....not pi** and moan about this and that in public. Pick your nits with the CS department.

In closing if you ever buy another Kershaw (yeah, I know...unlikely) feel free to come back and ask questions. Heck if you are considering something I bet we can get you pics of the grinds on half a dozen different ones in no time for you to consider.

I"ll keep that in mind.

Friends don't give known defective knives as gifts. How about you let Kershaw make them right, then gift them with a clear conscience if you still want to.

I urge everyone to look VERY closely at those pictures.....

Why, exactly?
Everyone wanted pics. I post them. Now you are going to doubt them.
Oh well, I guess you cannot please everyone.

Not that I really care one way or the other. Believe them, or not, whatever.
I may just opt to send them to Thomas. Still thinking on it.
I just got a box with RC helicopter parts today, that would be perfect ot send them in.
Even has lots of idiot paper. Then all I gotta do is make the bleepin 15 mile drive to the nearest Post Office.
It would be better if it was warm, so I could ride my motorcycle. That at least makes the trip worth something.

Sounds like you either don't think much of your father and others on your birthday list -- I always strive to give gifts as good, and preferably better, than I would want for myself -- or these Kershaws really aren't as bad as you claim.

That, or you're just trying to stir the pot.

The blades are lop-sided. There is nothing inherently dangerous about that.
Just not what I expect when I pay a certain amount for a knife.
$175.00 for a Random Task with a crooked blade?
$140.00 for a black Boa with a crooked blade?
$60.00 for a JYDI with a unwanted partially drilled hole in the handle?
$150.00 for a JYDII SG2 with a crooked blade?

I do not mention the leek that is now gone due to the spring breaking.
It is not dangerous with a groken spring, since I removed the pieces. Just has to be opened manually. Big deal!

They just do not meet my expectations given the money spent, considering what I have gotten from other manufacturers for the same or less with nothing to complain about.

I have well over 100 knives in my little collection. I have no complaints with any of them, but the kershaws.

You said this before in the other threads & now your saying it again - you need not make any trip to the post office.

Go to the usps website & use the click & ship to create an online shipping label.

Just pack up the knives really well, reuse that box & paper you want to use, maybe find some bubble wrap or packing peanuts, just make sure everything inside is wraped up well & not rattling around & then seal the box really well with some packing tape & then just print the priority mail shipping label online add the insurance & confirmation any of the services needed before you print it & then tape the shipping label to the box & after that put it inside your own mailbox or just hand it to your letter carrier & they will take it from there ( you do have a mailbox or letter carrier right? ) there is no road trip involved.

I use this service every day it is very simple to do anyone can do it.

So please dont use the 15 mile trip as an excuse any more it does not have to be made - unless your a martyr.

I'm a tool user not a collector - but what's functionaly wrong with a off center blade? How will this effect the knife's ability to open , close ,lock or cut ? Won't claim to be mechanically adept - so I could easily be missing something here - but what?

Over the course of this former Kerhaw customers complaints I dont think off-center blades were one of them although it may have been I have lost track myself of all the problems he has. I believe his sticking point is the blades sharpened edges are not sharpened equally from side to side. He hijacks other peoples threads posts here & there & then starts new threads it is all over the place.

I am unsure if in the JYD photo above if he is still showing us that or is he showing us the lamination line which will vary knife to knife anyway the lamination line is all I see in his long awaited photos.

so if your motorcycle was defective in some way, you would not get it fixed with the warranty, you would sit on the internet complaining about it, and blah blah of all the bikes you've had, this is the only one you don't like. . . blah blah costed me $$$$ for defective blah blah. . .?

That doesn't make sense.

Badmouthing a company without letting them know about the problem so they can fix it is simply trolling.

BTW, you do not need to go to the post office to mail anything. You can print postage from your computer and have packaging supplies delivered to your house free of charge.
