Hey guys, how are you all doing. I'm up to my old tricks again, I had to get more sharp pointy thingies to cut sticks with...I have to tell you, every time I get a new Bark River, I say.."this is my favorite knife" and then I screw it all up by buying another one. I have been really enjoying the Aurora lately, so I made the next logical choice..the Nebula..this knife is very similar to the Aurora in profile..but they have many differences. First, the Nebula is not full tang..its 3/4 hidden tang. Its thinner than the Aurora, and a lot lighter! Its blade steel is 12C27 stainless..and the grind isn't full convex from the spine like the Aurora's...I put it through the paces, it slices and carves bette than my Moras!!! I know..you don't believe me..thats OK...lol. I love this knife! Its light weight and blade geomitry make it one of the finest tools I've ever held...I think Bark River should start paying me for these write ups...I can tell you, this is the first Barky that I have to go on and buy a second to just to get it in a different handle..I bought the Green mycarta on this one..I think a wood handle would be really nice.
OK, on to my new chopper....Fehrman First Strike. The overall feel is great, it chops like a much bigger knife, its wicked sharp, and cool as hell to look at. I am really pleased with this knife..the handle is very comfortable, and the sheath is very sturdy with the Kydex liner. If you can spend the coin, get one. I traded my Trident 03 that I recently aquired for it, and don't have the smallest regrets. Don't worry, I still have my 02, thats a keeper. I have another 7" blade on the way..our very own Scott Gossmans Tusker..I included a pic of the actual knife that I bought, I have yet to recieve it, but I can't wait for this knife, it should arrive in about 2 days. I've admired Scotts work for awhile, he really inspires me in the way he makes knives, I won't say I'm copying him when I make my knives...but I think they will show my admiration of his work.
Well, I havn't bothered you guys in a couple of days, so I had alot of BS'ing to do..thanks for reading..heres the pics. Gene

man.. that is a nice haul there...  those are some beauties...:D i love that tusker and nebula.....

i think i might be due for a new barkie.....

I hate to admit it..but since I got my Aurora..I don't even touch my Bravo1...now that I have the Nebula...I doubt I'll remember what it looks like in month or two.:D
I have to chime in and tell you guys that I have a bunch of knives that I don't think a whole lot about as far as quality...I hope no one here thinks every knife I get is "the best" or that I think that...I only tell you guys about the ones that blow me away....Trust me...I get more lemons than oranges! Gene

Dammit Gene! You always drive me crazy with these pics. I have too much on my wish list already...

Come to the dark side......and be broke like me!!!! I'm getting so bad...I'm selling my guns for knives lately:eek:

Hey Mike, I saw your neck knives...awesome, is that little hand forged one from Atlanta Cutlery, I want to get one of those, how do you like it...made in Oregon isn't it?

Thanks for the compliments Gene. Remember what I told you in the PM. I'm here for you if you need me. Have fun with your new toys.

Dang. Thats some beautiful score there. I recently recieved my first full sized Gossman, and its my favorite knife right now. Dadgum pretty as hell with Desert Ironwood scales. Fantastic heavy duty sheath. Sharp as snot, and stout as all getout.

( Aside: Scott Gossman, and Dan Koster are my two favorite makers that I can afford. I saw some knives from heavy hitters this weekend at Blade. Raymond Richard makes a knife that is so fantastic to see and hold that it makes you batty for a minute. Seriously, I had a small seizure. Its masterpiece art. But Dan and Scott make a knife I can afford, that I can use. And they are art too, but its functional beauty. Cutters. Great work Scott and Dan! I try to cultivate a fraction of your skill in my knives. I've got a long way to go, but the ride is half the fun.)

Very nice! I have owned a couple Fehrmans, great knives. I still want an Extreme Judgement one day. And I definitely want one of Scotts knives. Nices scores.

gunknifenut,
Was I not right when I told you that the Fehrman Knives were right up there with your Tridents?
I too have the First Strike but mine still has the black coating on it and be reminded that 3V is great steel but IS prone to rusting so give it a good pm every now and then.
I see that you have not gotten the TT01 yet. Do you still plan on getting it?

Good pictures and nice knives....isn't being broke with toys like that a nice way to be broke? Your as bad as I am when it come to buying knives!

I have to say, I'm glad that I don't live too close to guys like mtnfolk mike and gunknifenut! Most likely if we hung out we'd be divorced, homeless and broke (But we'd have a TON of awesome knives to show for it :D)

You gotta admit though... don't sound half bad.:D

I feel the same way, but the kid in me wishes he had some buds close by to trade with...and show off to!

I think you were right, all the way...After owning 3 Tridents I realised, the O2 is such a fantastic knife, and the TCFM is great...but the 6" blade serves only as a fighter..and since fighting with knives is for dumbies..I went for the 7" fehrman with more chopping ability. I hated to see it go really(my O3) but I felt like I would never use it...and the Fehrman is already out in the carport chopping away! As far as the TT-01, I might get one down the road, but I'm looking for a BRK&T Golok right now...I just have to have one.

LMFAO :D God, ain't that the truth.
