well, here is a few pics from this past weekends camping trip...

the place, that we thought was going to be some-what of a hotsprings resort, turned out to be a total flop...:thumbdn: the place looked more like a trailer park/gypsy encampment, than a resort... it was horroble... to top it all off the place was $30 flipp'n dollars a night... and it was not close to the beach at all...

we arrived there on fri. afternoon and basically unloaded and made dinner.. we sat around the fire that evening and discussed other options.. so the next morning we ate breakfast, and then my friend jay and I set out on a recon trip.. we went to 2 other camp spots/state parks, near by, but no avail... finally we decided to check one last spot.. MONTANA DE ORRO state park.. low and behold, there were a ton of spots and they were only $11 bucks a night too... we then raced back to the other spot, broke camp and got a refund...

this place is amazing.. i think it's about an 8,000 acre park, loaded with trails... the camp sites were pretty much right on the beach too... it only took us about 6-7 min. to walk there... the kids loved it.. we went with a few other families, there were lots and i mean lots of kids.. it was crazy... my wife came home on sunday with a few other folks that had to go to work, i stayed back with the ladies and the kids....

we all had a blast... here's a few pics.. i didn't take very many...

my little RAV-4 kicks butt...

Oh man I miss Cali. Looks like you found a gem to camp at. Looks like a blast, my wife has never seen the ocean and me being from Cali knows that there is no way you can go w/o seeing the pacific. I would like to do a trip out west this summer to camp for a week or so w/ the wife and boys. That looks like a perfect spot to go. Im glad you ended up salvaging your trip and had a safe one.

i forgot to add these pics... this is the back portion of the campground where we were... :)

we are definately going back there... i'll bring my mtn. bike next time, there is soooo many trails...

it was a bit foggy, or else you would have been able to see the ocean in this one...

Great pics, looks like a nice spot. that's a sweet tent, I love big roomy tents for car camping, feels like a house!

Great pics Mike. Looks like a good time. I remember the west coast. I used to go out to the beach in the morning and wait for the sun to come up over the water. Very disorienting for the whole seven years I lived in San Diego. :D

they are nice pics! i just am fortunate enough to live in montucky, where the men are men and the sheep are scared!

Good stuff I liked the steel horse...like Bon Jovi would ride. Good pictures. I like the one where it looks like a trail that leads to the ocean and the sun is to the left.

Looks like a fine place to camp out.
By the way, mtnfolk mike, what was the name of the hot springs/trailer park/gypsy encampment? Might go up that way and I'd like to know where to steer clear of.

awesome pics! thanks!

i've been camping in big sur but not that far south - looks like a sweet spot
