Sheep Horn that is. In addition to the 165UH that many of you saw when it was listed, I also bought a 156OT with the same handles. Together, they make a very interesting set of Schrades.

The following photos were taken by the man I bought the knives from; he did a much better job than I could ever do:

This last pic is a poor scan that I made of both knives together:

I was given some interesting background about these knives after I bought them. I didn't buy the story, as BRL is so fond of saying, I bought the knives first and learned the details later. Unfortunately, the information does nothing to help establish the provenance.

How would they look side by side in a custom double sheath?

Those are no bullsh!#, er sheepdip, er, ah...oh shucks Redshanks, those are nice looking fixed blades.

Looks like a job for Superm.....I mean, Sheathmaker.... AKA El Rey del Cuero.

Nice score!!

Dang nice blades! Man, somewhere, there are some sheep that are light-headed...:p

Great score...

Those are beautiful. And a nice combo sheath would really make a great hunter outfit. Thanks for showing them.

I just received a used double sheath that I found on ebay, how's it look?

When the knives are stacked in this sheath, there is a pronounced curvature to the rig. The sheath is a dangler and as luck would have it, the curvature fits the curve of my hip. I'm not sure if this is a good design or not, maybe Paul will weigh in on this:

Looking at pictures it's hard to "feel' the leather, but I'd say you got yourself a well designed and well made, hand made rig. Can't tell much about the age but the stitching looks older but the whole thing has been cared for very well. The leather looks to be "alive" and clean. My one and only objection to this rig is purely personal. It is perfect for standing or walking while hunting, but it could be a little awkward try to sit in a vehicle with it on. I don't know what you paid, but I'd say you got a good deal because I know what I would charge for that specialty item.

$19.00

The leather seems to be very high quality; equal to that on the sheaths on some of my custom knives.

You got a VERY good deal.. You bought it about $80 to $85 cheap, and if it had been lined the value would have been $150.00+ at today's leather and labor prices. The added bonus was that it fit your knives so well.
