For all the artisans of the edge...

Im interested in boar hunting...I walk on canadian style loftstrand crutches...think big tonfa w/ the armcuffs.

I built these from SS pipe when i was taking/inventing a martial art w/ an instructor in N.C.... they are 3 times heavier than a normal aluminium crutch.

I want to attach a Cold Steel boar spear haead to the crutch in such a way as it can be folded up alongside the bar, locked into place..sheathed of course, an then if needed in a blind etc. the process reversed so the spear can be used.

Of course, this would not be an instant use tool, but a just in case scenario.

Any suggestions 4 s rotating lock mechanisim etc.

Needs removability, as i do not want this to be seen as a weapon by law enforcement in a Wal-mart setting!!

Its something i would use in a stationary hunt, w/ a 45/70 and 44 mag revolver.

Id rather have it and not need it, than need it, and not have it.

Also as u might imagine this needs to be over--durable. Lockup like a bank vault etc.

Well there u go...hope I didnt post in the wrong place. Apologies in advance.

Now this definitely needs pics

Yes sir, it does, but unfortunately I dont have capabilities to do that right now.

Youve probably seen a canadian style crutch. They're VERY common. Its not the "armpit" but foream held style.

I figure, get the CS BOAR SPEAR, modify/remove the large flanges on the head, (maybe not depends on clearances/ tolerances and such) and mount like a bayonet w/an applicable size piping.

But what Im having trouble visualising is a rotating lock system that would keep the spearhead out of "battery" and sheathed until I need it...ready to set down in the blind etc.

Then rotate your spearhead down towards the end of the crutch. Lock it in the ready position...unsheathe...

The reason I dont just taper a pipe and "weld something up" is these rubber crutch tips are hard to remove and even harder to replace.

Other than that..remove the tip is the obvious idea. Very old bayonets 4 muskets etc were plug variety.us

I would probably start with looking at the current systems of crutch tip spikes

1--10 : u hit it dead on...

dummy here didn't think to look up the crutch b4 posting. Then again Im 46 and I dont even know how to upload stuff onto BF yet...talk about behind times.

I had thought of a crutch tip spyke 4 winter applications. Someone got to the patent office b4 i could!

This design could be REALLY REALLY"beefed up" i.e. HC STEEL ROD etc. and would work brilliantly as long as the spear would lock in the upright position as well as when deployed. Only problem i can forsee is the shank part of the spearhead. A simple wack n weld would solve that, but probably skrew up the blade temper. When facin' mr. piggie stuff needs to work like a Ruger Revolver...
