That's a good example of thinking outside the box. I would be tempted to make some sort of plug to hold the ceramic in the cap for the Reeves.
I was wandering around the TAD Gear web site today and saw an end cap for the Reeves knife that has a whistle built into it. Take that cap and epoxy a firesteel and a ceramic rod parallel to each other and it would make nice little combo.
My own choices for field sharpeners are the Lansky Dogbone, the Eze Lap diamond sharpener that is like half a credit card, and the DMT folding sharpener. The DMT is probably the best all around, but the EZE Lap is perfect for a PSK.
As to sharpening in the field, I'm mostly looking for something compact that will get my tools back to a working edge rather than shaving sharp. A walk down any river bed will find enough fine grained stones if you are really hurting.
