thanks everyone, this has been very encouraging. makes me want to go back out to the shop and see if i can't make the tools pay for themselves.
 
I actually handled this knife...VERY NICE...I don't think the pictures do it justice myself...Keep up the nice work Matt.

I agree with Bill -- I was able to handle Matt's 2nd custom knife as well. The quality and craftsmanship of this piece is better than the images portray! Matt, looking forward to seeing a lot more from you!

that is ridiculously good for a 2nd knife. Can you maybe list all the tools and raw materials you used to make it?
 
sure triz,
tools that i used: metal cutting bandsaw and buffer (from harbour freight), okamoto surface grinder (@ CRK), craftsman drill press, bader b3 grinder w/ a14" diameter contact wheel, beaumont metal works horizontal grinder, flat platen and rotary platen attachments; norton 60 grit, norax x100 & x45 & klingspor 400 grit cork belts. a good bench/vise/handful of files, CRK's heat treat and Rockwell tester, ibuprofin and bandaids.

raw materials: scrap S30V from CRK, spalted maple burl from gallery hardwoods; 1/4" black canvas micarta and 3/16" pins, two 1" pieces of 1/4" stainless mosaic pin and 1" of 1/4" stainless tube from texas knifemakers supply, 1 tied lanyard (thankyou Lisa L'Eveque Hague), 7.5 years of training and encouragement (thank you Ann & Chris Reeve):)

+1 for the g10 bolsters... I think metal bolsters are tooo "busy." +1 for the long handle. This knife is one of the most appealing "fancy" knives I've ever seen!
