Here's one: Leaner Meaner VS. BAIII

Would someone help a poor ol' hillbilly out and post a side by side pic of both?
and you all that said BaIII, would you sell me a leaner?

This is the thicker MrS at .220, not the Leaner, but same knife other than thickness.

Hey, I've got 4 out of 5 (Well, my ABA ain't an LE - black micarta) of them. 5 out of 5 until about a month ago!

I may have to revisit my SAR5 tho. The more I read and contemplate. :)

Might also consider an SS4, which is similar in weight and blade length to your LMeaner, with a little beefier blade "just in case".

Thanks for all the responses guys :D just seeing if you guys think along the same lines ;) I'm more partial to the BAIII myself....I don't know what to call mine as it isn't a ABA OR a BAIII as it's about .170''.....my leaner is the 2007SE, so I think it's about .170'' as well. For small blades that seems about the right thickness for a good combination of stregnth and slicing ability.

I just went to check mine and my Black/snake BAIII was .190, my ABA LE .150, and the DABA I checked was .160.

I was off about the BAIII in my first post.
Not sure what your .170 BAIII is called, I would think an ABA but's it's kinda right between.
What combo is it ?, I NEED to hunt one now:(

Two great knives you have there:thumbup:

BA III

I love my meaner but I do see them as an edc knife. I'd want a little more in a camping situation. I thing the BAIII would make a better bushcraft blade.

+1 on the SAR5.....:D

.

For the reasons of more edge for the size and a flat spin for a baton and the design getting the edge down below your hand I also moved the SAR-5 to number one for a camp knife.

But betweem a MrS and a BA-III.... I'd say BA-III.

l would love a BA if Jerry would make one without the (oversized non-functioning) choil and no Talon Hole:

I know some of you guys "Must" have brand recognition "tags" on your collectible knives even at the cost of function.
But, to each his own. I am just WAY more interested in function and this is just what I would like..... and at a good price.

.

If a Talon Hole is "required", I would want it to be as unobtrusive as possible. I still don't get the need or appeal (and I think it looks way better without), but at least this would be reasonably functional - IMO.:

Thanks, it's marked as a custom shop with desert camo coating, polished spine and black paper micarta scales. A sweet knife. It's got a thin edge too :D just perfect.

Sweet!!! I would love to see a pic one day if you get time to PM me one.

+1 on this. I just wish I could get a simple no nonsense knife made of infi. SAR5 is the best candidate imo, but it needs a lot of work on the handle to be the right for me.

+1 back at ya.

The SAR5 actually has great potential IMO. And the SAR5's handle at least "Can" be worked into a great knife since there is a LOT of handle and since the blade is good IMO.
But, I agree and feel you are right. I also feel the handle needs a lot of work to be right. It is just currently too big, bulky and heavy IMO.
Yet, since there is no choil and talon hole in the way, I might still have to tackle a SAR5 modification some day.

Here's for Ken, and I can't deny the rest of you :p :

The watch is my dive watch...a Nixon made here in Sunny CA. Good up to 300 meters and easy as hell to see under water. Giant wrist necessary :p. That's my water and outdoor watch, I've got a Ventura kinetic with curved saphire crystal and a Omega Speedmaster for dress and a sporty Citizen Eco drive for work. Watches and knives are a great combo!!!

Just finished polishing the swedge and the blade portion of the spine on my squatch as well....the other week or something like that :D can't recall exactly when:

Is it just me or is that new sage coating WAY tougher than the old tan? This coating just takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!

Nice Badger. I don't think I've actually ever seen that particular combo before. Did I mention that it is a nice Badger??? ;)
