I don't know about too small for our needs, Pipey.
But, all of the HIs under 16.5" that I've tried have had handles too small for me to use comfortably. I have one of those "bulldog" villagers that is about 14" OAL that fits just fine. So, I know it can be done. But, the Bir Ghorka kamis seem to have semi-standard lengths that they use and their 15"er handle is too short.
