Here's The Saint... Critique!

I can only ever remember the Fleur part... I appreciate your trying to get me to remember that but I'm afraid it's a failed cause :)

I call this an Iron Cross and I've always like that symbol :)

Well, I for one think it's a unique design, with a rather interesting flow and form. I like the contrast of the materials, and the fleur de lis is striking and complementary to the package. About the only thing I'd say is lacking would be a distinct grind line. The blade is just too plain. Figure out what sort of bevel it needs and run with it!

Thanks Matthew, nice to see someone with good taste :) I agree with the bevel statement as well. Odd as it is, racks my head when I'm designing. I'll try lots of different things and go back and forth on whether I like it or not. So it's an issue with me. I figure if someone were to decide to make it, they would probably have an idea as to what they would want to do with it.

Your welcome for the pics Lycosa, I didn't realize they were so big when I posted them :) But yeah I actually designed a metal piece to go on a leather bracelet a while back that had the iron cross on it. I like it too ;)

Some people will associate the iron cross with the Nazi's, white supremacist, bikers, etc., you fellas know that, right? It doesn't have the great image for a lot of people.

I like that plain blade. The Japanese call that blade style a kata-kira-ba.
"Maltese" cross. From Malta.
I know some American Indians who are offended by the American flag but lets keep this about knives.

I mention it because of a thread I read in the GB&U, where a certain company is selling some knives that some people find offensive because of the way they are marked. People are quite sensitive to these things.

Yeah the leather wrist band I mentinoned making the iron cross for, I submitted that to deviant art and was sure to put in the description that I was just a fan of the design of the symbol. Not the history that comes with it. But you know my favorite band is Metallica and the lead singer has a number of guitars with the cross on them and he gets away with it.

You are not the lead singer of Metallica.
