Ditto what Jerry said, in fact I'm going to put that one in my Photopoint "Dream Collection".

Thanks guys..
I am working on the sister to that last one at the moment,It has a 6 inch Damascus Blade and dyed bone handle with the same ferrule and guard and pins as this one..It should look cool.

All are very, very nice, Bruce. That elk handle material really looks good, and that dyed cow bone is very cool. Any chance of a close-up of that dyed bone? I think that last one might be my favorite also.:) Oh, and that garter would look sweet on a LIVE model!;)

More great work from a great bladesmith! :) I like the clean lines on that last one but all are beautiful. The dyed bone looks very intriguing and I think you're on the right track there Bruce. It does give an ancient looking appearance to it. A closeup would be appreciated if you can manage it.

Thanks everybody,Here is a close up using a flash of the handle with the dyed bone.I will get a better picture tomorrow when I have sunlight to take the picture by.

FANTASTIC Bruce! Well, always different, I think I like #2 best. I've never tried the mortised handle, but bone seems like a perfect material for it since there's no real grain to match. Or is there?

Your photography is great too, I've been meaning to tell you that. Thanks for sharing, please keep it up. I was talking your bowies up to a collector this weekend, hope he comes looking one day.

Dave

Bruce,

They all look great. I am interested in the elk handles because I will be receiving a bunch of elk antler soon.

Any pointers for using it for handle material, especially for mortised and stick tangs?

Thanks,

JOhn

Thanks Dave.I am not to sure about the photography though,I wish I could get them allot clearer...As for tyhe bone,No there really isn't any grain to match up.The cow bone is usually a little thin but everynow and then you can get a thicker set of scales.

John,As for the elk,muy only advice is to use the tines for stick tangs and some of the main beam will work for Bowie handles and then you will want to scale out the rest of the main beam.Elk is usually real pourous and has allot of iner pith so you can't grind much off the outside of the handle.I dyed this with fiebings leather dye and the color was cordovan. Then I stabilized it with thinned out polyurethane which helped make the center pith a lot more dense..
I like usuing elk as it is real white under the ruff outside layer when you can grind it away without getting into the pithy center.

Bruce,

They all are real nice, but I'll take the Elk and Brass. It looks like it would be good for anything and everything. You know what they say, Brass is Class :D

Keep it up ,and don't forget christmas is coming and I have your gift already wrapped. hint hint :D

Bill ????

These are all beauties, as usual, Bruce. I especially like the dark elk horn with that brass!

What did you use to get that darkening?

Thanks,
Dave

Sorry Bill That one is already sold from a order. If the lady here in town that ordered one would just come by now and pick which one she wants I will know which of the other three I get to post on the for sale forum...
Dave...Fiebings liquid leather dye...Cordovan color, this gives a deep reddish brown with a orangish background when you sand and polish some of teh highs off..
