If you read the forums you must have noticed that many folks have been absent. RayC has been taking a bunch of tests, Rusty broke his leg, Yvsa's been gone on vacation, Harry has been told to cut back on activities, BA has been in Japan and visiting with Satoshi, one regular has been to Four Corners area with boys for vacation. I've had email from a dozen folks and everybody is off doing something and I'll be heading for KS for a week over Memorial Day weekend but I figure with any luck we will all make it back sooner or later and the forum will get back to normal. I enjoy the little respite but I miss the regulars/

I'm still here, and with school ending for me today (at least this semester) I'll have a bit more time to post.

I've been here every day, but awful tired, and posting seemed too much to bother with.

Matt, good luck!

I was hoping to hear some very interesting post from a heavily medicated Rusty.

:
We have been being kept busy by the kids and grandkids.
I am looking forward to home and a rest myself.

Then Barb and me spent a very enjoyable couple of days with Finn and his mate.
Barb kinda paniced when she woke up during the night and discovered I wasn't in bed. She thought sure I had slipped outside for a smoke and went to sleep and that dayumed Big Cat that hangs around Finn's place had gotten me.
biggrin.gif

But it wasn't nothing more serious than a "p" call, there was No Way I was going outside for a smoke and taking a chance on falling asleep, besides I would've had my YCS with me if I had of ventured out of doors at night.
Helluva lot of good that would've done me but maybe I would've gotten in at least one good whack and who knows(?), perhaps that would've been enough if I was lucky.

Finn is one helluva Flute Player besides the other instruments he plays!!!!
Barb and me may be back out this way sooner than we even realize and there is the possibility of some new and exciting music coming from Tucson some day. It will be a harmony of 2 Flute players that aren't in competetion with one another.
That alone will make it different than most Indin Flute music out in the world. I am really looking forward to getting back out and seeing what develops from our meeting. I don't believe in coincidences.

And of course I had to get a new Flute while we were close to High Spirits in Patagonia AZ.
There has already been some new songs develop from the new Flute and our visit and I know there are more coming.

While we were there we went to look at some rock carvings and in trying to avoid a descent into a steep wash and back out discovered some more. And it saved some hard work for me in the heat of the day.
Great place and great people!!!!
Barb and me are looking forward to going back to Finn's place, A Lot!!!!

Finn carried his UBE, I believe it was, on our little trek.
All I had was an American made karda.
I had carried my YCS the day before on another short walk.

Heading for the pool soon to aggravate the grandkids. Too bad I can't "Cannonball" like I used too, that would scare the hell plumb outta them.

There are gonna be some tapes forthcoming from this new musical consortium, aren't there?????

Bill,
Been busy as all get out. This has not been a good year for taking it easy. Lots of extra work at bosses request. Would like to see some pay though (govt work, go figure!) Hope to get back to some degree of normalcy by summer.

Keep the faith friend,
Leo

PS: This evenings Becks will have it's top popped as an offering to Rusty's mending. Just too many of us have been in the hospital this year.

Hi Bill--greetings from the other side of the world. I'm in Durban, South Africa, and I should have brought a khukuri. Thank heavens for these internet cafes.
Two trips to Kansas within just a few months...you must be feeling the pull of the prairie.

Hi all,

I'm around too. I've just been so occupied that even when I've had a spare minute to look in on the cantina, I haven't had time to participate. I'm in at work right now upgrading one of the systems I'm responsible for and waiting for a process to finish so I get a little while to visit the ole cantina.

I see a number of good happenings worth being thankful for: Rusty is on the mend. Uncle Bill and Yangdu get to have another vacation visit to Kansas. Hope you get the job, Matt! It looks like Yvsa and Finn are having a great visit. I hope you do make some tapes, guys. That would be terrific!

The Falcata model looks wonderful. As I've said more than once, I'm not a martial artist of any sort, nor a weapons "collector" but this one looks like something even I might make an exception for! Even on slow days (weeks) the HI cantina is a pretty nice place!

It's been a busy Spring. I just wanted to say that Yvsa and Barb's visit was an honor, not to mention illuminating and fun. Yvsa is an accomplished musician (among many other good things) and I heartily recommend his album "First Flight - New Beginnings". I look forward to making more music as soon as we can. He still has to meet the local mountain lions, which would make for a lively dance tune.

Sorry, Will. Just not up to going out and gathering the ingredients for a cactus cooler yet.

Matter of fact, I've been debating whether or not to tear a doctor a new ending to his aliamentary canal.

Here's the situation: my kid is autistic. This makes for a number of obsessive compulsive rituals that have to be tolerated. Toward the end of the day, patience gets thin. On the other hand, because of the autism, frustration has on my part has to be controlled, and reasonable response given even to an unreasonable situation. The answer has been a benzodiazepine ( Zanax ) as needed to chill out.

Problem is that my usual doctor retired last month. The guy moving into his office is putting out the garbage that the benzodiazepines are narcotics and extremely addictive. He will not prescribe them nor accept as a patient anyone on them. There is simply no use for them in his world. Period.
Despite his training ( D.O. ) they are plain and simple "bad" drugs. "VooDoo medicine" is alive and well in rural Nevada, apparently.

Anyway, I ran out and it was time for a refill, but my records were still with Papa Doc. And the first week I was home I wasn't up to finding a new Doctor. Now, with nothing to do but stay home and play with my 12" Sirupati Audrey ( "feed me" ) I'm beginning to itch for a fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Harry, but though the Benzodiazepines are normally supposed to be used in an acute situation for the short term, when used to alleviate a chronic problem their chronic use is indicated as long as they exhibit continued efficacy.

I finally pulled up info on the net on this, and it indicated no particular problems for those without a HX of addiction with other drugs. So the bottom line is that chicken little is running around without his head screaming the sky is falling and trying to take us back to Joe McCarthy and Harry Anslinger's paranoic days of "reefer madness".

Anyway, it might not be much of a crusade, but its the only one I've got. Ignorance and bigotry preventing prescription of useful, helpful, and even absolutely necessary drugs for the sake of demonizing them.

That pretty well covers it. Satisfied, Will?

Rusty, I would agree with you on your assessment of this situation. I would suggest that one possible solution would be to contact your old doctor and see if he can't discuss the clinical situation with his replacement and enlighten him with his experience in this particular situation.

Another possiblitly is to change doctors.

Depending on how regular you''ve been taking Xanax (alprazolam), there would also be the potential for withdrawal side effects and other consequences which your new doctor may or may not have considered.

I am surprised that your pharmacist has not intervened in your situation on your behalf as this is one responsibility to the patient that appears to have not been fulfilled.

Harry
